Thats a nice concept! Things that you could change/add in my opinion is,
something more that shows that hes a warlord (i.e a banner, trophys, etc).
And maybe more weapons? Cant have enough of those ;)
Wanna see more of this, cheers

Hey Prabath! .. so true.. nothing beats pen and ink ;) nothing but time unfortunately. Is your style inspired by blizzard's ? It's really kickass and warcraftish! Great great design of your warlord.
Looking forward to see the progress, nothing to so far.

Hey guys! Guess my inexperience shows through. I will get to reworking the concept and make some ornamental adjustments to better communicate the warlord image. As for weapons, isnt there a limitation to numbers. Is it one magical weapon with few dozen other types or just the one magical weapon alone? Need to get that cleared up. And thanks for seeing my work anywhere near Blizzard's.
Here's apiece i did recently inspired by Blizzard's work.Hope you like it.

Hi,
I really liked the sword you designed. It had a great feel to it. The Axe you've incorporated seems small in comparison and not so "blizzard" if you get my drift.

Yone,
I hear you loud and clear. And I understand your point. Thanks for pointing it out. But this is just an armor study that i did some time back. I'm yet to finish my battle axe concepts. Should be the size of a VW to make the grade.

So! Here we go. I just finished my second concept.
http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m312/prabath/Untitled-2.jpg
I alternated the axe for the sword. But you can see it latched on to the back armor plating. Can't have enough of weapons, true. Also added some changes to the gauntlet. Hope you guys like this. All crits and comments are more than welcome.
Cheers!

Amazing, your inking is impressive O_o
I like your character but I just think that he's a bit too "classical". I mean, it makes me think about an heroic fantasy warrior :p But I think you will put more effects with the colors =)
P.s : sorry for my english :p

Hey alexy,
I kind of understand what you mean. But don't forget that this is just my concept work. I'm still looking for a good combination of character and appendage that sits well. I hope the mass of the character and the armor weapons he's carrying will sit well with each other and serve well in order to not just catch someone's attention, but to keep it locked on. As of this moment i know it only achieves the first part. The second part requires a lot more. More than just a Bulky dude in a static pose. Thanks for the kind thoughts. By the way, your English is just fine.

Prabath you keep pulling out stunning concepts! Are you going for a two-handed weapon or a set-up of dualwielding / one-handed and shield ?
That axe you've got there, to me, reads as one-handed when taking his over-all bulkiness in consideration.
You could definitely push it a lot more with a massive twohander of epic proportions with some way cool magic. Also as you say, you still lack the character-part. I'm really interested on how you will approach that.
Oh and about the weapons, I think it's one single magic weapon alone.. but I'm not sure, last year I never finnished so double-checking rules might be good.

Hey,
Thanks for the comments buddy. Well for the questions you've raised, I am definitely going for a one handed set up. Haven't considered a shield though. Especially with the pose I have in mind for the final image I think a one handed magical weapon of epic proportions will do good service. At the same time I'm thinking of showing of the Blood gauntlet more. With glowing rune carvings and the CGS insignia on it. Still have to figure out between the axe and the sword.

Before going forward from here, I need to clarify a few things. The first thing is about weapons. Is the "one magical weapon per character" regulation costant throughout. I mean is it ok to have your character carry extra weapons? Mine being a warlord especially, can't seem to have enough weapons in there. The other thing is about the concept art itself. Is the final artwork supposed to be exactly adhering to the conept art we post or are we allowed to make slight changes/adjustments etc. here and there?
Hope someone could clear these up for me.
All the best to everyone competing.
Cheers!

heya duuude cool concept, im into big badass lookin Humanoids, so caught my eye.
One thing, if you wanna clarify stuff, i suggest you ask like a DW mod cuz people here dont tend to answer too much. Another thing, maybe i read the posts a bit too quick but i'm guessing you're entering the 2D challenge? If you are then you should have unlimited amounts of weapons if Im not mistaken. The only reason you wouldnt be able to have multiple weapons would be if you broke your limit in the 3D challenge of going over 10k tris.
Hope that helps in any way! Good luck man

Mihail,
Thanks a lot for the support brother.I checked out the official DW rules page. In the class despcriptions they say your character is allowed to carry only one magical weapon+ magical armor etc.And they have explained in detail what constitutes a magical weapon. Also chacked out your work too. looking really good. All the best to you as well.

Aha, I see. Makes sense for a "magical" weapon, but what would be the outcome of lets say a Barbarian/ Warrior or Rogue/ Assassin type character which carrys hand to hand weaponry, and decides to dual wield an axe and a huge mace!? Does that not count? Weird! I'll have to look into it.
Thanks for the comment on my work, almost done texturing :).

@ Roshan,
Hey man, thanks for the comments. Your work is quite impressive too.
@ Mihail,
My point exactly mate. But the rule seems pretty concrete. One extremely powerful magical weapon and other gear. that's it. I was originally hoping to do somethig like a cross between Cloud's Tsurugi and Frostmourne. A wiked looking blade of massive proportions. But i thought since the Tsurugi is 6 blades put together that might conflict with the rule. So why risk a DQ.If you find out anything else please do share with me.
Cheers!

Wow! Does time fly or what? I was so taken up by my office work that I'm behind schedule now. So I've decided to work on the model sheet and the final painting both at the same time. Ill advised but I really want finish this competition. So I guess perseverance won't hurt.
Okay, here's my final piece for the armor's chest plate and shoulder plates.
http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m312/prabath/Untitled-1-2.jpg
Needs a lot more work. But I hope it sits well when everything comes together. Be back to post the model sheet soon as I finish inking.
All crits are welcome.

Hey Prabath, thanks for dropping by. I'm not quite sure if I'll finnish. I could push it and work every day, but that would be sacrificing too much, I'll see how my situation turns out.
However, I'm sure you'll finnish. Definitely. Armor concept looking great, don't know what to crit since I can't put it in context to the character. Alone it stands greath though. Great detail.

Hey DV,
Thanks for the comments pal. Yup its a lot of work getting it to fit together with the rest.detail wise I used a bunch of custom brushes i mainly use for metallic surfaces. They seem to be doing a bang up job. try harder pal. You should owe it to your self to finish this time around.

Wow, it's been a really long day. But I managed to finish some more of my painting. I finished the armor...
http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m312/prabath/Untitled-2-1.jpg
... and added the sorry focal point of my character's wrath...
http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m312/prabath/Dantalioncopy.jpg
The initial idea would be that Dantalion is raising his Rune Blade to chop of the machine's head and end it's misery.
And here's a few steps i took to do the machine...

Seems like I'll be able to finish off in time I guess. As usual all crits are welcome.

unusual workflow (at least for me) you have there -painting piece by piece
but it seems to be working great
waiting for the head and the rest
cheers

Hey man,
Yup, most people see it as an unusual method. But like you said it works. Especially when you are on a truncated timeline. The important thing is that you get the scale and composition in early by roughing in colors. Basically pathes ofblack and white in this case.

Yay, an extension! Never mind though I was going to finish any way. So here's my scene sans background...
http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m312/prabath/Dantalion-1.jpg
Working on the background as you're reading. Once that's done it's only the effects. Expecting a lot of Crits on this before I can finalize it. All the best to my fellow Warriors.

I really love it man. You know who he reminds me of? That demonslayer or whatever from that upcoming game "Darksiders". Really badass, gives me a woody. Good job!

Hey man,
Thanks for the comments. I checked out Darksiders on www.gametrailers.com, and you were right. I wonder if it will affect my entry also. Hadn't heard of it. before. But that cinematic is stellar. But still my inspiration was more towards a cross over between the hulk and a death knight. And the gauntlet was inspired by the Witchblade/Darkness armors.
And here's my W.I.P. with background added...

You have a pretty cool style man! I really love the painterly feeling of the background and the effects on the sword! How do do that? Do you start with a photo or do you paint all the little pieces of plasma / fire stuff? I'm discovering there is a lot I don't know how to paint because I've never actually tried, so I have to learn a method when I run into these things.
My only crit, which is probably too big to actually fix, is that i really want to see all the details in the solid black areas. But I guess that doesn't really go with the style your using. That said, I really enjoy the shapes you created in his armor and the ground using that harsh shadow and lighting style. Pretty impressive draftsmanship! Nice work!

hey Matthew,
Thanks for you thoughts.Well, here's a neat trick to try.Pick an object you want to paint. And paint what you see and not what it is.Only think in shapes and values.Do it in B & W.We interpret form in shades of Grey. It's not the details that count. Only the implication of it.(See the WIPs I have) Play light against dark and you can emulate detail. Color and the rest is just the icing on the cake. For effects I make my custom brushes.Best way to go.Hope this helps.
