View Full Version : 2 clips from my upcoming short

I'm working on my second short film using Maya and i thought i want to show two clips (playblasts) from it.
The first one shows a witch hit by 3 balls flying back because of the impact. It's about 3megs...
The second one shows a Harlequin who tries to escape (dodge) from 2 bats approaching him...It's about 1.5megs...
Please tell me what you think. Thanks!
that's a really cool work !
never hesitate to post more !! ;]

I don't know the story behind the animation, but your pacing in your story telling seems very slow. You have a great gag with the witch but it goes on and on for like 30 secs. I like the idea but my suggestion is pick up the pace and you'll get a bigger laugh. Keep it punchy.
Your clown has some nice movement to it but, the way you have him back up does not appeal to me at all. If he's afraid of these bats, have him jump back possible. Or, maybe have him swatting them away as he backs up.
When will we get to see the finished product? Looking forward to watching it.

As for the witch animation, i made it such a long one take because I want to make some camera cuts. This way i set up the scene with the witch only once and can place the cameras accordingly.
After the witch throws the balls into the air she turns them into bats with her witch magic and she sends them to bother the clown.
In the clown Shot he is a little surprised and he doges away to see what is happening next...
but yeah, i might change the way he reacts...
Thanks for the critique Andrew and btw, nice looking stuff you got, I like it! :)
I hope to have finished the whole thing very soon. In the meantime i'll try to post more raw animations from the reel too...

The camera work will help it out allot. Just a suggestion though, you may wan't to avoid seeing up her skirt unless she has some funny type of flanel undies on or something like that. The whole Basic Instinst theme just down't seem to fit in here.
I like the idea of turning the balls turning into bats.:applause:
