Hey,
I am thinking of doing a project, but dont reallt know if it is possible, i hope you could help me.
The basic idea is:
I have a 3d stage with some lights on it. On the center of the stage that you can rotate, there will be a object (i.e. a sphere). You will then be able to move the lights around on the stage and see the shadows that this sphere will cast depending of the position of the light.
It would then be possible to adjust intensity of the lamps with a slider or o control panel you have on the side.
And this will be an application that you can use. And maybe even on the web.
So tell me is it possible to accomplish something like this and how would it be?
Thanks

oh this one is easy, you can place a slider , then place the light and go to wire parameters. you have to wire the slider value to the light multiplier value the slider wil rule the light so you have to point the asignment arrow from the slider towards the light. set the slider value to the maximum amount of light you want

hm, sounds complicated. How would i get the lights to move by clicking and dragging them into position? And what would the export format be to publish it all?

Wait a sec. Your talking about doing something that is not possible.

You want realtime shadows to be displayed for web content. Your output form would be vrml, but it can't handle the task you are requesting.

On top of everything, what you want to do is only possible with custom scripting outside of 3dstudio max.

For realtime control you might try Quest3D (http://www.quest3d.com/).

There are a couple apps aimed at 3d content creation for the web, virtools (http://www.virtools.com) comes to mind if you're looking for "real time" shadows, i know it features a stencil buffer that seems to work pretty well.
