hi everybody..
gosh darn it , if you would excuse my french..
i 've been playing around with wings for about two months now on a regular basis, and, coming in from a very two d graphic background, no prior experience in three d.. and, wow, i love it!
wings is so fabulous .

but..
my limits are pointing their nasty litl heads right now..
so.. i'll be glad if i could use a few good helping hands.

see..
i am at the point where i want to start adding colors and materials to my models...
how do I do that?
i mean.. once i have created my unfolded maps.. what do I do with them?

also... once i have created a group and assigned a color to it, is there a way to change that color?
let's say for instance, within that group , I want to change a few polygons???

How do I use the pov ray thingy?
I've downloaded the file, and it is a .tar file.. what do i do with it???
and, if you guys have any good tutorials on how to go from the model to a colored , rendered version.. please let me know..

Ok,, another quetsion.. CLACOS???
is it still not working with the newer versions of wings??
I miss the slide tool a lot!!!!

lol
ok, have a great days, wingers of all sorts and kinds!!!
thank you

AFTER YOU UNFOLD IT . QUIT AND SAVE TEXTURE AND U.V. NOW GO TO YOUR OUTLINER IN THE MENUBAR. OPEN IT AND LOOK FOR YOUR MAP. IT WILL SAY DIFFUSE. CLICK ON MAKE EXTERNAL AND SAVE AS BMP OR JPEG ETC. NOW OPEN A PAINT OR PHOTO PROGRAM WITH THAT FILE TOU JUST SAVED. PAINT , LAYER ,ADD TEXTURE ETC.SAVE IT AS THE SAME FILE YOU OPENED. NOW IN WINGS GO BACK TO THAT DIFFUSE IN YOUR OUTLINER AND CLICK. IN THAT MENU CLICK REFRESH. CLICK ON THE TOOL MENU OR CHOOSE DESELECT AND TA DA. YOU HAVE A MAPPED MODEL. HOPE THAT HELPED. I HAVE YET TO UNDERSTAND HOW TO UNFOLD CORRECTLY USING ANTISTRETCH AND WHAT NOT. BUT I HAVE GOT IT TO WORK TO WHERE I COULD PUT FACIAL HAIR AND TATTOOS ETC. ON MY MODELS:thumbsup:

I think your at the stage when you have to

RMB > Quit > SAVE UV

Then in the Outliner Window (Window > Outliner) right click over the object named "Diffuse" and select "Export" a save as dialog box should open for you to save your UV Map for texturing.

Page 103-108 of the 1.6.1 manual goes over some of the concepts behind the UVMAPING process.

Go to File > Image Plane

It will open up a open file dialog box, find your image

Now the image will show up in your outliner window.

Select the model > RMB > AUtoUV

It will ask you if you want to use existing UV or create a new one

USE EXISTING

It will open your UVMAP

Click and drag your Textured Image Plane over to the the UVMap, it will then replace it (sort of), but you'll get the desired effect your looking for.
