i want to create a countdown using blend shape... In other words: 9,8,7,6,5,4,3 .I've already try create text, make it planar with a count value=400 (this is in poly)... after that i select from 3 to 9 and create a blendshape - can't match topology- but the vertex flyin' around... like in this shoot.. help me!

you have to make a different blend shape for each transition of the number right? ...

why dont you just try key framing visibilty.
When you want a number to pop up set visibilty to on and leave the rest to off until its their turn to pop up.

Or if you have after effects or even a video editing application, you can just do it in there.

I dont quite get it... are you trying to make the numbers morph from one to the next as it counts down? or is just a plain count down timer? plus, whats it going to be used for?

1. if its just a normal count down timer, you can easily to that in macromedia's flash.

2. if its morphing text you can also easily do that in macromedia's flash... just make the text, press G to blow it up or something... (the photoshop equivilent for this term is rasterize) but the tool will turn the text into editable graphics and not text (so be sure you like the font) and then just use shape morph.

3. if this isnt for just a blank screen, like it needs to go on some monitor in your animation, then just save the flash as a sequenced movie, and create an animated texture, and import that into maya.

thats the best I can recommend. :D Hope it helps!

There is a plugin or script on Highend3d that will let you morph from object to object regardless of topology but I'm not sure how effective it would be.

yes... tomb is referring to "fitMorph" on highend3d...

i think in the blendshape option box there's a check topology radio box set to on by default...i think if you turn that off it should try to conform to mesh as best it can.

i would do what stallion says, plus why not just toggle visibility? unless you did want them to actually morph.
