View Full Version : Environment: WIP - The Room of the Cat Pirate

hi all, this is something im working on atm.

im planning to fix these things next:

- shaders. some of the still need tweaking. some of them have strange reflective values and/or too much white irradiance.
- the cat needs proper skinning and the tail needs a better pose.
- lots of more stuff and small things will be added to the room.
- the cortains will probably get remade in some way or another.

my goal is to create a pic that is fun to watch. you should find new things in the room every time you watch it. and it should be an image that engages your fantasy, like why is the candles lit while the room has enough light anyway? well, dont ask me, make up a reason! :) you get the point?

anyway, made in Maya and rendered with mental ray.

Maybe you should give the pirate flag a more cat-like image,instead of a human-head-pirate-flag (if you know what I mean ;) )
You have a really cool concept going on there,love the hand ...
Don't really like the cat's hat though,but i guess that needs some work ( if I look at the one in the conceptdrawing that is ) :)

Really nice concept and fisrt image!:thumbsup:

for the candles, for my opinion there is a problem, the light comming from outside is supose to be so much more powerfull than the candles, so the light that they make doesnt look like candles light, I would propose to put an exterior night ( with the full moon for example) and more candles inside, with more orange tone.

thats my opinion I suppose you allready had this idea, and still wanted to stick with the day exterior?

some more rigging with the cat. im not going to go deeper with it in this scene because he isnt so active in it.

Hey!!!where is his kitty moustache? Think he really needs that.Wouldn't be much of a cat without those hairs :p ,even if you are not using him much ;)

don't take it personally bro! Here in the WiP section... getting a reply is almost a big deal!

Personally I like the style and ideas of the drawing ALOT more.

Just my opinion though!

Cool idea! I think you should cartoonise it more! e.g. the fish up to he window should keep it mouse opened... Waiting for details :beer:
