This is my first pass at a character animation reel, im mid Junior year at the Art Institute of Portland so i still have more to learn but tell me what you think! be brutal

Considering your still in school, its not bad at all.

First I would take all the 2d out. None of it seems finished so thats an unnecessary addition that would only take away from the quality.

Having your name on screen throughout the reel, although different, isn't needed. Its literally the first thing I look at in each shot which is a bad thing. Don't do anything to distract from the acting. Someone reviewing your work would gladly refer to the beginning or your papers if they like your work.

On the technical side of the animation, the main thing that stood out was the lack of readable poses. In most of the dialog here, its not required to have over the top poses but everything was kind of floating around. Nothing stood still long enough for you to process the characters thoughts.

There is lack of follow through in some of the movements making the character look like he's hitting something in mid air. Thats easily fixed though.

I also noticed the brown characters arm passes through his body toward the end of the first shot. Watch out for intersecting geometry.

Not bad though. Some polishing, and you'll have some good stuff here.
