View Full Version : Maya 5.0 problem (values)
hi, i have this weird problem, im curent reading tutorials to learn more, and the thing is that for example if in the tutorials they give me like : the value of turbulence is set to 0.86.. i always have to put like : 9.5 to get the same result..
or want to set lighting effect, the max spread.. and result that the value 10 is the max, but are the values are to small.. like if i put 3 or 10 the result is the same.. unless i zomm the lighting to the max..
is there a way, to get "higer" values.. o rmaybe an option.. coz its really bother me...
thanks

Res: Maya 5.0 problem (values)
Ei guy! you maya must have a problem!
Itīs because ( I think so)
you have altered some preferences inside of maya?!
My Maya still makes difference of values, like that!
i havent chance anything that i know =( , or maybe yes.. but .. where??
the same happens whit the join tool, i set in Display---> joint size.. and the same, i set to the higer value.. but the joins keeps very small.. olmost whitout differens beeten the minimun value (sorry about da english)
please help

Alot of maya's values are determined by size of objects in the scene. They have objects work like the do in the realworld. So anything like turbulance will work very differently on something that is 3cm long then on something 3 meters long. Samething comes into play when you are working with any dynamics, cloth, procedural textures, etc...
yes i know, i have tried whit different sizes
and the same result
but there must be an option where Maya adapts the values to the size of the object??
well, i dont know what can it be, because i just opened a finish scene (not maded by me) and there i can adjust the values whitout problem.. (is the same scene that im working on,but finish ).. and all is exactly like what im doing, the size etc etc
and the joint for example, their size is TOO small.. i mean, i have to zoom the joint like to the size of 1 square of the grid to see it.. a "litle" whit the shape of a joint.. and whit all settings of the display of the joint to the maximum

sounds like your objects are way too big in the scene. Try scaling them down by 100x
no, the sizes are fine, that pic that i uploaded in my first post.. the distance of the lighting is like 15 units..
i have tried whit 4 units , 60 units..
olso making joints in a very small size model, whit big models etc tec
i have tried everything :/
i guess thi sis going to be a problem whitout fix :/

15 units? Is that feet? meters? yards? inch? cm? mm? There are no generic units in maya. If your using anything other than cm then you could still have a scale problem.
wow, thanks, lke i said im starting in maya and didnt realize that i add meters.. i change it now to cm and all work fine now :applause:
thanks a lot for the help
