Hi folks, Sorry to post a seemingly really stupid question but I'm getting foiled by something which should be bone simple :hmm:.

I'm trying to intersect two curves, and when I do, I always get point locators at the end of each curve rather than their intersection points. Seems no matter what kind of situation I create, I cannot get the damn intersect curves tool to work. :(

Ok, I hit f1 and even try to replicate the extremly basic example in the help file (under intersect curves, two intersecting arcs). I create two arcs in the side viewport, such that they overlap in two places. Then I select both curves and go up to Edit Curves>Intersect Curves>Options, hit reset tool, and then intersect. Again, there are locators created on the ends of the curves (on locator for each curve). There are no apparent error messages, but the curves have not been intersected..

Can someone tell me what the heck I'm doing wrong? Is this a re-install maya problem or...

I think you need to run cut curve afterwards and that will actually break them into seperate curves

Yep, that'll do it for trimming :) sheesh I hate it when it something simple. Thanks gmask, saved the day.

Ok, can I not use this method to insert knots?

If you go into compnent mode and select PARM points then you can not only insert a knot but also detach curve.
