Hi.

I think it`s time to change the name of the animation forum (http://forums.cgsociety.org/forumdisplay.php?f=26) into something more specific.

People there often ask questions about FX (in their animation), render problems (they are rendering image sequences) or dynamics (reactor and such), which usually are more software oriented problems, then animation itself.

And AFAIK it`s mostly character animation forum, 2d and 3d, right?

If only there was some kind of moderation. Even if there are some moderators, I hardly see their activities in animation forums ;)

They sound like animation questions to me (except for the rendering one perhaps). There's much more to animation than just character animation. The animation forum is meant to cater for all aspects of animation, which includes dynamics, rigging(there's a character rigging forum, but there are other things that need rigging), mocap, FX, compositing etc. If these are sometimes software specific in nature, then that's the way it happens.

To quote "God" in Futurama, "If you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all" :) The mods are there to fight spam, put out flamefests, make sure everyone plays nice, and move the occasional thread which is way off topic. Their work is likely to be pretty invisible most of the time.

Well, everything can be called animation as long it`s... animated over time. It can be almost EVERYTHING.

But I still think those things are more software oriented, then animation. Animation is not about software.

Of course there`s more than character animation, but rocket trails? come on! ;)

Actully people sendin their questions there are loosin the oportunity to get their answer, because those, who could do that, might not read animation forum at all, opposite to let`s say 3dMax forum.

I didn`t mean to be rude or sth. I was talkin about movin "wrong" (imho ;) ) posts to proper forums ;)

Kudos to all mods ;)
