Title: Warm Waters
Name: Brandon Jones
Country: USA
Software: Photoshop

A broad river filling a deep valley in a warm climate near the equator. This piece is inspired by Hindu and Buddhist art and architecture, but is distinctly foreign from any place on earth. The people who live here have found balanced ways to produce food and heat without having a destructive outcome on their environment and primarily use boats for the movement of goods and people.

oohhh. very nice. I love the use of green to tone down the warmth of the background with the water and trees. it creates a nice balance and blend of warm vs. cool colors in the piece. very strong compositionally. I like the blues in the laterns on the building in the foreground. good job.

AndreeQ, Thanks for that.

linainverse23, Yes, I started mostly warm on this, and slowly brought out cools in the water, saving saturated colors for last. I think it worked out well to introduce the colors slowly. Glad you enjoyed it.

hehe. one of the tricky things about that technique is doing it just right so that the effect can actually be noticed and/or appreciated. props for you, if you think about it that way. I wonder what I'll notice in your next piece. keep it up.
