View Full Version : Chainsaw
TemperalVision 04-01-2009, 11:51 PM I've been working on a chainsaw model and I have a thread started in the 3d stills W.I.P. section but I have started doing some animation on it and thought it would be better suited to this form.
Anyway......
Here is a test animation I did for my Chainsaw.

And here is a link to the modeling w.i.p. thread if you are interested.:wip:

that's cool man!
the shaking is believable, and I like the subtle movement when the chain goes slack. nice model to btw. If I ever needed a chainsaw, I'd be sold from your add spot!

Thanks. :)
I am currently rendering it out. I am trying to get it to look as good as possible and am doing many render passes so it's taking a while.
For this shot I have to render out:
3 diff passes
3 spec passes
3 reflection pass
2 AO passes
1 shadow pass
EDIT: I also ended up doing a motion vetor pass to get motion blur effect on the chain in post.
There is a very basic compositing test I did on the other w.i.p. thread.
I think it's looking good so far and I will post an update as soon as the renders are completed and composited.

Very nice. The subtleties you put on the chain are great, the way it goes ever so slightly slack before engaging is great. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the great comments. And, as promised......
Here is the rendered version. Took a long time to render but it was worth it.
