Form Processing Error!
Sorry, the code you entered was invalid. Go back (http://forums.cgsociety.org/javascript:history.go(-1)) to try again.
I tried it in Firefox and IE and I always get this error, I double checked the code each time, refreshed the page and everything, and no luck.

ditto, here...
Here too. Perhaps they're just collecting email addresses and have no intention of providing beta software.

Direct URL, versus some 3rd party site just wanting to generate viewership.

Before installing: do you have to uninstall Ozone v3 ?
Hope this one is better because v3 crashes a lot, at least under Max...

Do you also still get the invalid-code-error? I'd really like to try out that plugin...

Just dŽloaded it. Great plugin - it renders fast in some of the presets, but a little slower in the volumetric ones (or so it seems). The user interface looks very clean, and the docs are easy to understand.
IŽll test it more, but it looks a great add-on so far.

Is it multi-threaded? The demo of Vue 7 (using only sky presets) on my Dual Quad-core Xeon 2.8 rendered REALLY slowly. I wonder if it was only using one core.

Mac version Destabilizes Cinema4D causing repeated crashing upon quit.
Cant reccomend it:argh:

works well in XSI...pretty simple in usage and quite fast
venkman: uses all 8 cores here (its basically mentalray volumeshader (?) so its bucket rendering with mray)

Thank you ! it's a great plug ! work perfectly in max with mentalray.
Interesting, they've said you can use it in commercial work as long as you buy it once it's out mof beta, yet they haven't announced the pricing!

Quite pleased with this free beta version, no logo watermark like in Vue 7 Pioneer, full features.

I would like to support E-On, The XSI plugins are fine, but others like Lightwave, continue to mystify me. Rather than have say a plugin in Lightwave called : Ozone Volumetric Handler or similar, You have choices such as.
Ozone4_Cmd101
Ozone4_Cmd108
Ozone4_Cmd134
And basically you have to guess which command does which function, Example Ozone4_Cmd108 is "Ozone 4 Options" Thankfully In Ozone4 there is only 9 choices of trial and error.
With Vue7 it's more like 100 choices... So i have no problem with Beta issues, but this is the same problem as Vue7 beta and release, so my hopes that E-On will ever know how to make naming conventions logically is starting to fade.
I guess they advertise support for all the major 3D Applications, but mileage definitely varies with it's usefulness based on the host package. And i will say in this case at no fault of the host package. So perhaps Ozone5 will get it right!

Sounds like impressions are fairly positive. In apps that support Mental Ray (XSI, Maya, Max), can you use Ozone 4 in place of mental ray physical sky?

IŽm using it like that. It works with final gathering, and the sun position/ sky color , etc, changes with the rotation of the main directional light.
The volumetric ones are heavy, however.

I had no problem installing it. After Ozone is installed you just have to open Edit Menu Layout and locate the CFG file found in the Environment/Ozone/Lightwave 9 in the Ozone4 folder....this adds a Ozone 4 tab to LW

Thanks, I will try it out, but as i said the same issues have been with Vue7 for quite sometime. If you use the Plugins -> Additional tab you get Ozone_Cmd101 etc.
My only complaint is the preview window update is really, really slow! I don't recall it being this bad with Ozone3 (Max 2009 64).
Also, it takes over my computer - as soon as I render it's like it's set Max to high thread priority and I can do absolutely nothing. Changing windows can take 60 seconds. Again, not something I recall with Ozone3. This one is easier to workaround though, I just set 3dsMax to low priority and only give it 1 thread to use.

found a bug in the plugin for maya 2009. ozone won't remember the Main_camera's focal length. It will default to 35mm after reloading the scene or batch rendering. work around for me is to use a batch rendering script.
oh and scrubbing the timeline in ozone will tend to jump to an insanely large frame range in which case i have to restart maya.
Is this render-Dependant? IE-Do I have to use MR with it, or can it be used with VRay? (For MAX).
On a side note, Ive never gotten into Vue. Its a fantastic program, but the render times just KILL me.

it works greate with max / mentalray render here
It only works with MR in Max, Maya, XSI. It does NOT work with VRay.
If you want what is practically a standalone Sky-generator, you can also download Pioneer, and buy the RenderUp addon (removes logo, allows big images and 360 panos).

We have been testing Ozone 4.0 with max 2009 and XP 64.
It works fairly well but is a little buggy (it is a beta after all) sometimes.
We got it to netrender by installing the exe on all our render nodes.
You have to be carefull not to accidently animate the position of the sun as it seems alost imposible to delete the keys (we had to delete the sky and start over to get it to work right).
We are very interested in buying it once it is out of beta.... but we tried VUE before and found it to be a crash fest. Hopefully this is not the same type of deal..

Will the final release of Ozone work with 3dsmaxs gamma settings ?
Or is there a way to get Ozone to work with gamma settings I have selected in 3dsmax ?
I've seen this tut for Vue and it seems to work around some of the gamma issues

We have adjusted the Gamma settings while using Ozone 4.0 and it seems to work fine.

Hi David, just a couple of questions for you.
Are you adjusting the physical correct scale in ozone at all ? or you leaving it default ?
Are you using it with mr_daylight system ? or you just using ozone sun ?
Do you use mr_photographic with ozone ?
ddustin

Duncan,
If you mean am I adjusting the scale in Ozone, yes I have experimented with it.
I am using the ozone Sun and it works quite well.
We are using MR photographic exposure and I am quite happy with the results.
Ozone is a cool plugin, it just has quirks in my installation for some reason.

Cool so you don't bother with mr_daylight its all ozone and mr_photographic.
The install went through without a hitch for me, it seems to work fine, the only thing is the help file menu doesn't locate the help file, but thats an easy fix.

Duncan,
If you netrender at all AND you use your workstation to render from (as a node) you will need to reboot it if you want to use it to send another file to the render farm.
For some reason it locks up on the saving/sending part if you have used it as a render node.
Also, be carefull if you open the editor and dont make any changes, then click OK.
He had a lot of crashes doing that..
David
EDIT: Actually we did see some gamma Issues net rendering..

Hi David,
I've tried using just Ozone without Mr_daylight and I cannot get the Ozone light to cast shadows.
All I've done is load up one of the presets created some geometry and hit render.
Theres no shadows.
cheers

Duncan,
It places one light in the scene, if you open the light lister it should be called sun (something) and then make sure shadows are checked.
I have never used it with MR sun so that may have had an effect too.

Yep shadows are checked, I made sure of that.
I found out it when switching physical lighting on (in Ozone) theres no shadows.
