The best place to start is by reading the manual. While it lacks the tutorials you're looking for, it will give you a good understanding of how the program works and what each button does. I know a lot of people try to skip the manual, but I've found it to be a tremendous help.

The next thing to do is pick up a copy of Dan Ablan's Inside Lightwave book. It's got the tutorials you're looking for, and it's an excellent way to get started with Lightwave.

There are a ton of online tutorials. Do a Google search or look through the Tutorial section on Flay.com.
