View Full Version : Paint effects explosion
Isrithe 07-10-2003, 03:56 AM Im doing a paint effects explosion and so far it has been looking pretty good. The problem is, over the course of 20 frames there is a popping effect that involves color changing. Its not an actual popping, but the color change is from one frame to the next making the color change kind of pop. Any idea what I should do?

Well I suppose you could slow the explosion down so that you could retimet he effect and possible blend the frames together to get a smoother transition..

never went through the process of blending frames. How would I go about it? And I know this is also a stupid question, but how do I edit the preset animations within a paint effects brush?

Select it and open the graph editor..
You could also stretch by typing a byframe value of .5 for %50 into the render globals or use a MELscript fromhighend3d.com called timewrap to use one curve to controlthe timingof other selected obejcts or all objects in the scene.
frame blending is specific function you can do to a sequence that has ben retimed in after effects.

I found the problem, but when I tried using .5 for by frame, it got worse. The problem is the shader glow on the paint effects brush. If I take it off, the explosion is smooth, but it doenst look as good than with the shader glow on. Of course when I add the shader glow, it looks really good, but I get the color (glowing) popping crap. Can I get away with dropping the shader glow and applying my own texture to recieve the same results?

Try turning off autoExposure on the shader glow node. You will need to adjust the glow and halo intensities to compensate. Also increasing the glow quality setting may help.
