Hi all,

i'm looking for an easy way to distribute mental ray render over the network. We have 20+ quad core with as many maya liscence, what's the best free distributing software? I'm looking for a simple solution to setup.
Does mental ray sattelite can be use for that? can I then install a server and host on each machine?

lots of silly question I guess but i've never found a free solution that suit me and was easy enough to use for everybody.

thanks for all input.

cheers

dr queue blows. it's not free but try deadline or qube. it's worth it to pay for software when it simply works. You really need to invest in your farm if you're serious about using it.

Renderpal is a comercial render manager but it allows for 3 free nodes if that is an option for you. It's pretty good.

Well I've used multiple one in the past that were cool, such as deadline, or even smedge. But I'm not the one deciding on the budget, if it was up to me hell yes!, I would invest.

Thanks for the linked bigboss but I knew them. I was searching for people that have used a free solution that worked good for them. hopefully in the future we'll be able to invest.
Nobody is using the mental ray satelite then?.

cheers
