View Full Version : Gollum head - wip
MadHamish 07-10-2003, 01:44 AM hi all. here's my attempt (so-far) at modeling a head using wings. I usually a LW user but sofar I'm VERY impressed with Wings. Anyway, I'm still working on this model, plenty to do etc, heaps of tweaking needed but I just wanted to share.

good work!
just a general question about eyes. do you just make 2 separate spheres, then adjust the circles and then stick em in the head?

thanks cloudkj. By circles you mean the "colour" part of the eye or iris? Yes, I hide the head object, create one sphere and extrude out a section that is the "bulge" in front of the iris. I then unhide the head model and position the eye in the socket. Then mirror it across to the other side. I hope thats what you where asking?

cool cool.. yea that's exactly what i meant. sounds good to me.
oh yea, did you use any plug-ins for wings3d? i did a head tutorial before and they used some kind of slide plug-in. it didn't seem to work for me so i just manually did everything. the slide plug-in seems to "merge" points into 1 automatically, and is needed for places like the corners of the jaw, where many vertices meet.

cloudkj - no probs, clad I could help.
I hav'nt got any plugins installed, so no, but I am interested in trying some of them. Is that the Clacos pack? I'll give them a go.

Yep. It's one of Clacos'. It lets you slide verts and edges along edges... very nice. BUT none of his plugs are working with recent versions of wings :annoyed: It is better that you don't know what you are missing ;)
Thanks for posting the wires!
I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work

There's some tri's in there you don't need to have and you can set up loops that travel from under one eye, under the nose (above the top lip) and up to the other eye, like a big U.
Though I know its a work in progress, so I'm sure you've got it covered, as its progressing nicely precious.
