I have a suggestion, however i'm not quite sure if it'll be allowed on the list.

http://blenducation.org/

It offer's training courses (short classes) in 3D modeling, animation, lighting etc in blender.

It's been around for 2 years now, but only recently has it started to attract alot of students, it offer's live classes with students.

It's the only place that offer's this for blender.

Just a heads up at fxphd.com you get 10 lectures per class per term (not 12). There is a "break" week in the middle of each term.

Each term they repeat some core courses and add a bunch of new ones.
There's VPN access to several apps, including Renderman (as of this term).
For some courses you can take an exam at the end of the term - see the ones with label 'exam available' in the course listing page - http://www.fxphd.com/courseInfo.php
Courses that will be repeated in Oct'09 term - http://www.fxphd.com/course-grid.pdf
FAQ - http://www.fxphd.com/article20.html

ps: i don't work for them.

there is also 3dbuzz.com - videos, on-going courses.
lots of Max, Maya, Houdini videos. Python as well.

cmivfx.com - streaming videos at large resolution. mostly compositing and 3D (Cinema 4D and Houdini).
They have some pretty advanced Houdini videos like the ones on L-Systems and VEX.

Animation Mentor is the best animation school in the whole world.. may it be online or offline.

I have came across Blenducation before and I heard from them that they will be providing Maya Animation courses very soon (May be in August, 2010). And also, the best thing I heard is that Animation Mentor Graduates are going to take this classes in Maya at a very lower cost. It would be amazing. Keep an eye on this website. Or would you like to to get some more information about It? Actually I know the guy who is a moderator in that site. Let me know.

HI guys. I would like to add the NEW online animatio school, created by Jason Ryan Supervisor animator at Dreamworks and Disney (www.jasonryananimation.com and www.jrawebinar.com) and Digicel (flipbook software). All the school will be live (on line but live) and if you can't make it there will be downloadable reviews.

About the Program:

"
JasonRyanAnimation.com and DigiCel, the makers of FlipBook have teamed up to create a new online animation school called ianimate.net. The purpose of the school is to train animators to produce feature quality animation in the shortest amount of time, without having to mortgage their future. All of our instructors are currently working in major studios, and can teach the students what they need to learn. Beyond the standard principles of animation, our students will learn the work flow that professional animators use and to previsualize their shots in FlipBook and bring their performances to feature film quality in Maya. Previsualizing like this is a major benefit because it helps the students understand animation frame by frame and it helps them get their vision of the scene in front of the director faster. That way if the director likes it, they’re that much further ahead and if it isn’t what he wanted, then less time was lost.

The first three ianimate semesters will open for students September 6th, first day of the program will begin September 13th"

Don't forget to check the instructor that's gonna be there. All of them from dreamworks.

Regards

Pabs

Hello there,
New here! I was just looking at the list of schools provided by other members and noticed that Full Sail and Animation Mentor were on there. I have my own school to add to the list, I'm currently in my first semester and enjoying every bit of it.

http://www.academyart.edu/
Based in San Francisco, California.
They have both online and offline courses where Federal Student Aid is available for those who are in a needy spot.

Good luck fellow new animators!

I am currently finishing my second year at Academy of Art University San Francisco on line division working on my Master. I have to say it's the most expensive school I've ever seen. almost every instructor has been poor at best. I am really struggling to keep my grades up to qualify for an internship and the instructors don't teach. They don't help. They don't interact. Very dissapointed. For the price it's outrageous. :(
