i was wondering, when you render a car that you created in c4d and the scene uses hdri map, do you render it so it only shows the car and the shadow underneath if you want to composite your car onto a real photograph ? here is an example:

now how do you render so just the car and the shadow show ? background needs to be white so you can then get rid of it in photoshop or what ? also, on the example image the person used the beach probe, now the photo he used isn't a beach at all so how did he get the reflections to look so perfect ? is it just tweaking the settings and the hdr image ? so basically doesn't really matter what hdri image you use ? sorry for all the questions:eek:

well if youare anal in your critique the reflections aren't really all that correct, but he did a good job of finding an image that was close t his background image (or vice versa)

do a search in the C4d forum for compositing HDRI. I'm sutre there was at least one if not two threads about this when 8.1 was first released, with a few example files of actually doing it all in C4D which in someways is better because you no longer run thie risk of halo's, though matching the camera and floor to the photo is always a challenge, but you'd have that when compositing in C4D or outside C4D.
