Hi EvoInSec,
By layered textures, do you mean materials that mix multiple textures, or do you mean image formats like PSD and TIFF that can contain multiple layers, or something else?
Sounds like this one would be pretty easy to test though.

Layering anything inside a 3d app should slow down your renderer. The real question is is the slowdown noticable? I'm afraid I'm not a maya user (at least not a user of it's renderer or shading system), so I don't have an exact answer, but it should be easy enough to test.

In my experience, the layered texture is not big deal in terms of rendertimes (i dont think anyways), but maya's layered shader is horribly slow and I would not recommend using it for anything. If you want to layer shaders, use mix8layer or something instead.
