View Full Version : Particles along a curve and then to a goal- suggestions needed

Hi,

I am looking for suggestions on how to create a certain particle animation.
This is what I am trying to do:

the particles are emitted, flying loosely along a path and then settle down at a goal.

I have tried the volume axis field, wich seems quite handy for moving the particles round a curve. But if the particles have flewn along the volume curve they keep gathering at the curve's end and there isn't a smoothe transformation to the goal.

If I strengthen the goal or loosen the volume axis' magnitude, they don't follow the path anymore, at least not in the manner I want them to.

The same happens if I just have the particles move along some curve that's defined by a function I implement in an expression.

Do you have any further suggestions for me (no I don't want you to do my work, I am just looking for new ideas I haven't made up by myself, yet)?

Thanks a lot!

If you are using the new curveField (which uses a volume axis field) then perhaps you have the trapInside value non-zero with endcaps on. Turning off endCaps allows the particles to continue out the ends of the curve while being trapped inside( somewhat like colliding inside a hollow tube with open ends ).
