View Full Version : Ways to speed up raytraced reflections

are there any ways to significantly increase the speed of raytraced reflection calculations with high poly counts, other than adjusting the obvious options in the global raytracer settings rollout (I reduced the depth to 1 and switched to manual acceleration with the dual pipes option enabled but my rendering time still varies between 2 and 12 hours per frame)

Short of the settings you've already changed you can look into exluding objects from the raytracing, but to be honest Max's raytracer really doesn't take well to high-poly scenes in the way that newer renderers like Brazil do.
