Finally, there's an animation festival with the artists themselves at the helm! Kicking off in the fall of 2003 with its first North American tour, The Animation Show is a collection of the world's best animated short films, personally programmed by co-producers Mike Judge (Beavis and Butt-Head, King of the Hill, Office Space) and Academy Award nominated animator Don Hertzfeldt.

This year's line-up spans eight countries and features everything from forgotten classics to the very latest in computer animation, with a trilogy of brand new cartoons by Don produced exclusively for the show, rare and never-before-seen animation by Mike, six Academy Award nominees, and plenty of surprises. The official program and tourdates for this year's show will be revealed on July 18th and 19th at our world premiere sneak previews in Austin, TX.

This could be really good; a chance for all short subject animators to get their work seen. This year's show premieres in August.

Ah, very cool. I can't wait to see Don's new work. That should be a great show.

I think that's what they are trying to avoid, though. They don't want to make another Spike and Mike. They want The Animation Show to be entertaining, and they want to get it into as many theaters as possible.

Someone in Austin Texas should go to the screening on August 17th or 18th and tell us all about it. Both Mike and Don will be at the screenings.

They've got a cool poster

Love that quote as the Spike and Mike Sick and Twisted show hasn't been entertaining for years (though the Classical Festival has been great). Having Mike Judge and Don Hertzfeldt behind it is certainly sweet, surprised that Plympton wasn't involved. I'm sure it will have a nice balance of insanity and quality!
