I have GeForce 4 4600 Ti, it's very good and fast.
I think 5900 FX is over the top...

Im using a FX 5900 with maya, I have absoluty no problems in maya and the performance is easily good enough for what i do, chucks round bulk textured polygons no prob.

However I've found with the FX range I have to use the older 45.56 drivers for stable performance, the newer ones seem to have problems with the graph editor, and there are a few little refresh artifact issues with the newer drivers

Any one know about softquadro FX?

I wouldnt mind turning my 250$ FX5900 into a quadro3000!

People have been reporting being able to softQuadro their FXes at guru3d.com forums. I haven't been there in a few months, but I'm sure unwinder is working on it.
