Awesome Vestan Pance.

By the way, are those things worth buying? I had my first french press coffee the other day and it was great. My wife and I were wondering if we should ditch our "mr. Coffee" machine. Not sure if it was the coffee or the press.

Thanks Joel.

Well IMHO it makes for a much richer, full cup of coffee -plus- you never have to deal with a paper filter ever again. And it makes only 2 cups so I get to pace myself throughout the day.:p

very nice details and such. Now chuck it in a scene ;)

Wow thats very nice, good detail and texturing it looks prime for making cofee. My only crit is that the texture on the handle makes the handle look a little flat, although it might be flat. I've never had a cup of cofee in my life and certainly have never seen one of those makers.

Just out of curiosity does coffee taste bitter or sweet? I know it smells bitter, but everyone drinks so much of it that it has to taste better than it smells.

Agree with you about the handle. I need to kick up the specular to give it some definition. Thanks!

Coffee is pretty bitter by itself. I think that's why a lot of people put cream and suger in it.

Nice work

For the handle make a curve in PS using the pen tool which fits the shape, then choose a soft brush with any color and stroke the path.Load the paths transparency on its separate layer and com J {you use a Mac right?},then with the selection still active add an adjustment layer of curves and click ok,now just lift the curves up or down and you get a reasonable-ish specular along the handle.Chuck the airbrushed path layer after saving the selection :)

Kiwi: Thanks! I will surely give that a shot. Seeing as how the render takes almost 8 hours. :)

Nice work! Is the reflection from a real secen or a reflection map?

Thanks! The reflection is all in the scene, no environment map used.

my only comment is stunning work bud...the handle seems a little short but that might be the model etc...also the bakalite type material on the handle could do with some more depth to it as someone mentioned....nice work though bud....good subject matter also.
