I've been having difficulty setting up a separate boot drive, not emulation, for Linux ubuntu. Not having done this before, I would like to get it right the first time-the easier the better. VMFusion boots ubuntu from my machine, but has difficulty with reliability and I don't want to run it that way anyhow. Mac Pro 10.5.6, 2X2.8 Quad Core Xeon, 10g ram

have you tried the boot camp assistant? its shouldve been very easy. all you have to do is run boot camp assistant, insert the installation cd and it will automatically run the installation. at least thats what i did before.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I have tried that. What version of Ubuntu are you running? Is the disk 'Live'-if so, where did you get it? I'm trying to stick with Canonical. I am now looking at 8.04. Are you running OSX 10.5.6? The disks I am downloading then seem to require making bootable with Disk Utils, then don't want to boot anyhow, and don't like bootcamp either.
