Hi Guys!
I know im veery late in this challange but whatta heck ;)
CouldnŽt resist any longer! This challenge must be the coolest yet =)
I mean, who born in the 80s doesnŽt get goosebumps from this haha!
My dad always tells me and my twin brother that we looked like two skeletors when were just born, just cracks me up =P
Oh well back to reality!
IŽll be doing a slightly different version of him... not as ripped as in the series.
DidnŽt really wanna do ONE MORE skeletor since there already are a few in play, but then i thought "why not make him the opposite to the others" =P
It will be really great to model side by side with all you awesome artists!
Hope u like this obese bastard hehe ;)
Did these sketches in an hour or two..

Lol, your Skeletor is priceless.
It's him in 2009... Slumped on his throne in castle Grayskull, going; "I'm so tired of this same ol' song and dance every week. Sure it was fun the first few years... but now.... (sigh) Evil-Lynn!!! Get me another box of donut-holes, will-ya??!!! "

That is a pretty good idea, just one comment... if you gonna go fat go all out! right now it looks to me like a muscular pregnant Skeletor, yet again you might not wanna take THAT far... looking forward to it.

@TheRazorsEdge Thanks alot man! im quite exited as well hehe :P
@MistaFraggadeliX haha thanks! =) yeah i know it doesnt really show in the sketch but iŽll make him fatty, worn out and aaangry hehe =P by the way! i love your little tale about him, kinda homer simpsonish haha.. and ofcourse the fact that he is sitting in "grayskull" ;) Evil prevails!!!
@Geta-Ve Yep i felt it was about time!! lazy bugger aint i? ;)
@SNoWs Totally agree with u! thats the idea! did the sketches like 4 in the morning and was running out of steam haha.. but mark my words!! skeletor has NOT been impregnated by He-man! ;P ..but maybe by man-at-arms... uu what a man hahaha =P
hereŽs some reference of skulls i found:

Fat skeletor!!!
I love the thought of that. After looking at a lot of forums lately, everyone is just going z-brush crazy on models. The eye can never rest while looking at those images. In my opinion 10,000,000 details doesn't make something awesome, its the originality with a humoristic twist that makes me bow to those able to pull it off.
Can't wait to see that man!!! Best of luck!

@Geta-Ve Thanks man =) its the best i can produce in minimum time
and just wanna begin modeling hehe ;P
@WyattHarris Haha you must have great family cometogethers! :D
@tunaboy hehe no pressure! ;) Totally agree with u!
Originality is the key to great art, but I cant say I donŽt drool over super detailed beautiful creations aswell. =P but the detail has to fulfill a purpose!
Thanks alot! ill need it hehe ;P
Okeey so hereŽs the basemesh iŽve just finished!
The skull is modeled from skratch, and the body is partially kit-bashed from "majin Buu" (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=43&t=731897) to save time since we are simulating REAL industry workflow.
Oh and iŽve even come up with a little background story about skeletor and his "floating" skull :bounce:
The being "skeletor" isnŽt actually what u see..
he is in fact just a wormlike parasite living of its human host.
In order to possess the body he has to first remove the head or gain access to the throat from where he then extends his tentacles tapping into the motorics of the body.
If i have some time over i might create a detailed model of the parasite skeletor hehe ;)
oh well.. enough chatter!

Looking great, though, if I am not mistaken, everything has to be modelled from scratch?
I like your parasite idea by the way, sounds groovy.

Can't wait to see your progress dude... Just saw your majiin buu and that was awesome. Always good to see other artist's vision on existing characters. Expecting the same quality or better from your skeletor... Keep it up!

03-28-2009, 03:24 AM
Geta-Ve Yeah i know hehe, but i think it sounded worse than it is =) since skeletors body doesnt resemble buus even the slightest i only used the raw form as starting point instead if a cube that has been extruded 5 times. it just makes it easier to NOT start with a blank paper if you know what i mean (like a 2d artist that starts out a painting with just scribbles just to get something on that scary white blank paper)?
i still had to build up an entirely new topology and shape.
So basicly i started from skratch! =)
vshen Thanks alot! =) Your turtles designs are really great aswell! Love to get inspiration from fellow artists!
Heres some mudbox work before i go to bed:

TheRazorsEdge Thanks alot! He shall rule the universe! =P
Omnilight Thanks! Im not all to sure yet. Im thinkin of merging He-mans and skeletors two swords together. maybe tied together and modified somehow =P but i also love SNoWs idea about the staff! perhaps ill use both ;)
All ideas are welcome guys!! :D
Geta-Ve No crit??? i take that as a complimant hehe ;) thanks! =)
How is it going with usagi by the way?

Looking great, still no crits from me, other than the unfortunate fact you can't see the worm thing that is controlling the body 'per se', since the hood is covering his neck and such.
I think the hood feels a bit bulky right now considering the mass, or lack there of, of his head and neck, one would think the cloth would have sunken a bit into the crevices of his neck joints and what have you, though at that point would you still be able to have the stylized hood design? It is a trade-off I suppose, great looking hood for less realism, or more realism for a lesser looking hood?
Either way, he is looking Fan-Tastic!

WyattHarris Thanks Wyatt! HeŽll be a little greaseball when im done with him haha
japetus Thanks!!
Oberyn *taking it from him, giving him a carrot instead.. hehe*
Geta-Ve thanks man! yeah it gets really hard to see the wormthingy, thats why im planning to make a twin worm by his feet o something =P i know it looks a little bulky right now hehe.. when i get to it iŽll make the hood an "nCloth" so it drapes the tentacles getter =)
SNoWs what that an ASSJOKE?? :D
heres a small update, just a few minor details..
IŽve been creating lots of UVs instead! =)

One thing I noticed is that his upper thigh seems too thin for his size, more likely than not his upper thighs would touch in the middle.
Looking really great though, and a big ouch! to that slice on his belly. :D

Geta-Ve Been awhile ;) yeah i know, wanted him to be and old guy with beerbelly in the beginning and they usually have thin legs, but i agree he will look more proportional if they get wider! So iŽll make em fattier :D
