DWIV - 2D - saint-max - Demon Lord

ok here is my first concept, am doing a Demon lord that uses the power of ice. the ice in hell is black and has the power to feed on flesh and souls. the massive power of the ice lord is driven from its feeding on the souls of other Gods who has fallen under in the battle against the iced demon. i will develop the idea farther and I will work on the feel and look of the dark ice.

The idea is clearer here and still not sure about the shapes. the demon has six arms but after I drew them it started to look like a bug demon ... I will give it another chance any way. the female figure is just a place holder >_> must add something to make it somehow original.

Here are some of the sketches and ideas, and am still looking for the over all shape but i believe that concept 4 is looking cool with alot of arms made of norms corpses and keeping the idea of the redhead goddess from the second sketch, at one point I forgot that the demon lords should use their hands in combat so I add some sharp blades at the end of each tentacle. Mostly the idea is to build this huge demon that carries an army of winged demons inside him serving like an aircraft carrier. I will develop the idea farther.

Wooh, outlandish! Well. Or I'm just too landish. Anyhow, interesting concept, and it includes a boothbabe, which never hurts!

Anyway, I must say that I'm favouring your older concept, that middle one in your next-to-last post, with the girl's - goddesses' - hair flowing off. Might be because it's the most stylish so far, but I'm not all that sold on the later concepts' tentacle-tails and eye-like things. Have you thought about giving it a greater body, and perhaps expanding upwards instead of just backwards? Maybe I'm just in the mood for big, massive, bulky titanic monsters today, but can't hurt to put it out there.

thanx EmReu for the comment i am also working around that first concept with the redhead goddess, i tried some other designs even i tried to add some legs and hands to the demon lord but any way i would like to see what you think with this last concept.

Oh oh! This update is awsome! XD She looks like, the living embodiment of pergatory or something, with the dead people clinging/climbing her! I love it :D!

Wooh, time flies by and I'd forgotten all about this. But here I am again! And boy, this was an interesting turn - now, what I see in my head now is more like a... a... like... ship, or waggon of the damned, sort of. Though an organic such, of course. Spinning on the purgatory thing, that was.

Hmm. Well, I think that, right now, I'm simply a bit too confused by it. Oh, I get it, and most of the time, I like being challenged... but I think it could benefit from being made a bit more... clear. I dig odd details, but is there an explanation for the knife and mask floating in mid-air? In fact, your thoughts on a whole, too, would be neat to hear! There's dead(ish) guys clinging to her - but they're on the same size as her, not the little man-proportion-figure beside the whole thing. Which makes me curious.

So, well, got two... three visions popping up in me head right now. Meh, won't post them all - I'll just tell my favourite. In which she, the goddess, would be more... lying down, somehow, as if strapped down on top of the big ugly creature below. And with a whole lot of corpses, mostly of normal size, but maybe some left-over of a bigger one - maybe half sunk down into the body of the creature below, and this goddess of ours also sinking down... and anyhow, half covered by all these corpseish things, she's stretching up her one free arm with a desperate look on her face, and does that mask thing... oh, I don't know.

Would like to hear y'own thoughts on it. The idea I (partially, at least) expounded on had her sort of... imprisoned by this big ugly thing. But she could be more, like... merged with it, being part of the creature proper, of course.

Anyhow, yeah. Will end on that note - I'd like it clearer. Right now, I can't really tell if she's there voluntarily - what with the dagger aloft, you'd think she would've stuck it into anything she disapproved of - or imprisoned, which all those clingy guys feels like they're implying... mmyeh. Cheerios!

hey, man, very good process now.
However, personally, I like the huge blue one in post 5. I think this is the right portion between the goddess and the demon body. In your last concept, I see everything just in the same weight, don't know what is the main point. About the mask, maybe you could make it larger

EmReu thanx for your comment my friend it really helped. to be honest with you i wasn’t so sure about the knife and the mask, i add the knife as a place holder for later changes, but the mask was some how meant to represent the face of the demon while the rest of the body is like the inner organs or something like its soul. but any way the idea wasn’t that strong so i had to remove it. so i changed the composition and this time i somehow have a clearer idea of the Goddess. With the concept 8 my idea is that once the Goddess is dead she will turn to the undead who surrounds her and a new goddess will be born from inside the demon. its a closed circle and the younger she is the more power full is the demon lord. :P I know it needs more depth but this is my idea for now. Although i liked the new pose of the goddess but i had to change the rest of the demon to make it work more as a demon with the cold and ice power.

Nice concept n artwork there man, interesting idea using black ice as power. i like 8B the most, 8C looked too colorful to me though. Awesome work!

AlienKing, NavigatorJones and ario thanx alot :D am glad you liked the concept, the colored one is just a test.

Here is an update of the final illustration, it was a long process to chose a composition for the image, but i had to pick one as there is not much time left tell the dead line :S
am working on it daily and i will keep uploading the progress here.
Also i have finished the front view done in b&w but i have to fix it before uploading it.

I don't think I like the contrast in your colorization. It seems to me, that a lot of your nice details somehow disappear. On the other hand the blue/red colors go well together.

MartinNielsen i took you comment in to consideration and tried to add some red filter and lower the blue intensity in the image. thanx alot
