View Full Version : wrap deformer problem
scarface1 03-23-2009, 11:55 AM I've wraped my highres char model to the lowres one .their both nurb surfaces.my broblem is
when i scale the rig down the low res model acts good but the highres starts to deform.
any suggestions ?

When you say that the hi rez starts to deform after you scale the rig down ... are you referring to some slight, possibly small jittery vert movements? If so, then I've seen this when scaling a rig that is driving a higher rez mesh via a wrap deformer. I found no way of fixing it. It just seems to be a limitation of using wraps ... you can't then scale the rig and hope to maintain the integrity of the propogated wrap deformations. Unless of course someone with better experiences with this issue can clear it up for us ... <cough> ... maybe someone around here who is an Autodesk Product Specialist ...<cough Shawn> <cough> :)

but i found something interesting:
if you scale the low res via scaling its transform node, there is no problem, but if you scale it via verticies ,it starts to jitter. so yes i think its a limitation.

Since you have applied a wrap deformer, while you scale the character, the wrap geometry itself is scaled but my doubt is that the wrap base geometry is not scaled. Try scaling the wrap base geometry also...

thanks for rep .

but if i scale the wrap base the wrapped surface will scale inversely.i tied it out and scaled
the lowress down to .1 using its skin joint then scaled down the wrap base to .1 using the
joint it was skinned to and scaled the wrap base to 10 by scaling its transform.and the jitter was gone.so you'r wright Boucha, scaling the base will correct the jitter but will scale the
wrapped surface unexpectedly.

Scaling of wrapped surface unexpectedly can be the result of deformation order and the rig's hierarchy itself.
