=)
I have been blocking out the body. I got quite happy with the proportions and then I had an other idea, a cyborg! Will probebly test other ideas tomorrow!

Hey Linus,
Really nice sketch and cool models. Like a lot the huge hands on your concept, put a great touch ! :D The armor design is really nice! Good luck and cant wait to see your next update! Cheers!!

I changed the direction again... This is hopefully closer to something I eventually will build. http://i693.photobucket.com/albums/vv300/lidberg_linus/gladiator.jpg

Lo there Linus! Great progress so far, however I must say I like the first helmet design ALOT more, would really like to see you progressing along that path instead. Perhaps lift up the helmet just a little, so you could see a glimpse of some menacing eyes underneath!
Overall I fail too see your design path clear yet. He is a mix of gladiator/knight/whatnot. A more clear design choice would be highly recommended. Personally I'd prefer a cut on the cheap straps, old garments, gladiator sandals etc and go with some more classy and "unified" armor design. I have seen way too many zombies, hengemen, gravediggers and monsters from your already, give me a killer with style this time:scream:

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I got inspired to do something a bit more interesting so Im back to cyborg but with a different body type. I will now test different ideas around this concept.

I got a bit more concepting done. It will be a jetpack with rockets or some kind of weapons attached.

I decided that I wanted to do something a bit more organic, so this is the start of my longbow elf. I will complete this one! =)http://i693.photobucket.com/albums/vv300/lidberg_linus/elf_01.jpg

LOL, decide will ya!:scream: They all look good, try mix in some insane twist to that bow, I mean you are fighting deamons and robots, every archer needs at least heat-seeking exploding arrows!

Did some changes today, got a placeholder for some glow, need to look in to the bow now.

Some small but very helpful improvements on the armor. I like it! Thought I would be careful with some of that glow, it looks.. gay?;)His armor might need a lil more love on some parts, like the part closest to his neck, and the one on his right hip. Other than that its all good.
Now he just need some more bad attitude, and loads of weapons. Like Shiro from guild wars maybe? I wonder where the universal limit goes for how many scars in the face and amount of swords one man can have and still look cool:scream:

Haha, yeah that is too many scars. =)
Yeah I took the light off. But I will still have glowing arrows and symbols.
I'm trying to make a nice guy for a change, I might give him some scars though. I still got more work to do on the highpoly eventhough I planned to be ready to day. I still have a few divisions to go up, but the base is there now anyway.http://i693.photobucket.com/albums/vv300/lidberg_linus/elf_wip06.jpg

Dang! Splash damage has treated you well! You dont really need anymore details (except for the pure joy of it;) ).
Have you considered widening the area around his skull and down the cheeks a little? His haircut and all adds up to a very narrow shape of his head.
Personally I also wouldn't mind less elfishy ears, bit more volume in them without that pointyness ending up in a twist.
I also noticed that his quiver looks like a boot when looking at it from the front picture. Or something like a golf bag. It's usually composed of harder materials I think, and it's thinner. It could look pretty cool if you located the quiver further down aswell, more horizontally.

Looks really good to me! What program do you use to make your early prototypes, Zbrush?
Lanyo
04-25-2009, 11:32 PM
Thanks for the feedback Hakan, Yeah you are right it looked like a golfbag. I have changed the design on the quiver and I also got room for some symbol or detail on it, but I will have to come back to that later.
Cheers Jim, Zbrush it is.

Head and body sculpt wip. I will come back to the head and body once I have decided how I will pose him to get the details in the best places.

Superb, looks identical to the high poly one!
I second that...! thought it was just another render of the highpoly. There is a whole lot of volume in this character, neatly squared laces and layer by layer of cloth. I like!

Looparna you know! ;)
Linus, I would not recommend you to render a dark character to a black background because it hides a lot on the model (at least I think so..) You should render it towards a lighter/darker gray or something so we can see the model more. But what I can see is looking really nice!

Super cool bake, Linus!
This guy is turning out really well, his face has a nice style and expression, and I love the detail around the boots especially.
Keep it up! :)

this character is superb man, one of my favorite entries so far, simple yet very effective design, and the low poly definitely looks very high res, great execution!
