I'm sure there's some simple solution to this, but my search has been fruitless. The problem is that whenever you change an object you've keyframed, the keyframes become hidden (extrusion, combining, etc.). Where exactly do they go, and how can I find them?

Also, is there a simple way to add frames to the beginning of a scene, or move all of the keyframes in it forward a certain number? The dope sheet has been ineffective for me.

Hmm, I think I'll add another question in here too. Sometimes when I animate by vertex using keyframe animation, things will randomly deform in mid animation. It happens only between set keyframes, and it always returns the the shape it should be by the keyframes, but I have been getting these curious vertecies quite a bit lately and can't solve it without adding tons of keyframes in. What's going on here?

This seems to be connected to all forms of keyframe animation. Even a solid object, without moving any vertex, won't be linear in my animation. Instead, it passes the linear object for the first half, is even in the middle, then slower the second half, catching up at the end. I assumed it could be solved by switching it to linear in the graph editor, but it doesn't show up there for some reason.

To move keys in maya, hold the shift key and use the left mouse button to drag over the keys you want to move. This selects them and they should be highlighted red. Then you use the arrows in the highlighted area to shift the keys.

And as far as the object moving oddly in between keys, it sounds like it's because the keys are splined. LIke you said, changing it to linear in the graph editor should solve it. Have the object selected and highlight all the curves you want linear. Towards the top of the graph editor window there will be a button with a triagle icon. This is the linear button.
