Latest (WIP) FINAL

Hi Everyone, Thanks again for your comments and I apologize for my late updates. I'm soo proud of everyone for bringing such quality character concepts on this forum. Go CGSociety!

Here's my latest work on DWIV! I'm working on setting the mood right, balancing out the picture, detailing, and cleaning. I haven't figured out what her sword is gonna look like! stupid me...that's what happens when you put off the contest til the end.

Comments and critique's are welcomed!

These were done few weeks ago, and should have been updated these past two weeks but I was a bit lazy

This is my final concept done a week ago, so it's not my latest version. I will have the latest updated tomorrow.

This is the final concept for Fenrir, her wolf guardian.
http://i705.photobucket.com/albums/ww59/Shiramune2/Wolf2.jpg

***************************************************************

This is my latest update for this week. Although I'm still busy working on my conept sheet and modeling sheet, I've decided to begin working on composition for my final. I'm soo far behind, I should be getting these things done much sooner but sadly we artists don't have that much free time. So here it is, my first composition, not my final. I will have more of them uploaded hopefully soon.

The creature on her left side is her wolf guardian, Fenrir. The figure at the bottom right corner is a demon getting slain. I'm thinking of placing her giant white glowing statue behind her, maybe destroying a mech. I'm not sure if that's too much! what do you guys think?

Thanks for looking!

I've worked on the composition piece a bit more. I'm still deciding on setting the right mood and making sure everyone is at the right spots. I'm still trying to figure out how to include her statue in the back, destroying some giant mechs.
http://i705.photobucket.com/albums/ww59/Shiramune2/Composition-2-1.jpg

man I haven't had time to work on any of the DW stuff, but I'm starting to work on the model sheet. I guess I have finalized her outfit.. at least for now. I'm not too sure if the model sheet has to be black and white, I will probably convert it to a black and white picture and take out the statue weapon. It is WIP and I hope I have it done soon!

Hi everyone! this is my first time posting something on this Forum and I'm very excited to participate in this challenge with all of you. I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to be doing but I'm leaning towards a female caster. Shown here is my very first concept. I'm still trying to come up with a solid idea so I will have more concepts, rough sketches, and thumbnails posted on here soon!

Thanks guys and good luck to you all!

nice rendering, but be careful not to put too much work in rendering while you are still in de the designing stage of your character. I'd opt for quicker thumbnails first to establish the design and explore different directions, before putting your time and effort into shading of skin and faces....:)

Thanks everyone for the wonderful comments and critiques. I'm still trying to decide on what outfit to go with for this character so I have done some thumbnails. I'm probably gonna end up combining them all together and do another set of thumbnails.

This is my very first challenge in DW so please correct me if I make any mistakes. I'm not sure if this is allowed or not but I'm thinking of having this character be 1/2 elf and 1/2 demon, even though she's on the Norm side. As for her class, Demon Huntress sounded like a cool idea. I'm not sure if this has been asked before on other threads, are pets, mounts, and summons allowed?

Thanks~!

Stunning work Shiramune!!...the 2 versions are superb!...it's a difficult decision to choose, because they are equally as impressive! but if I was to choose I would say the version above wins, but just about as she looks like she has more of an attitude to her, I like that she has fire!....solid work!!...

I'll be looking out for your updates...very cool!

These are her Scythe weapon concepts. The weapon is made of ancient stone material, sort of resembling white marble. My character doesn't really hold the scythe physically but it is rather manipulated by her magical gauntlet and swings in the air according to the gauntlet's motion. these are my very first sketch but it's highly unlikely that I will go with these.

http://i705.photobucket.com/albums/ww59/Shiramune2/IdeaSketches3.jpg
a different and unique way to look at how the statue of her mother holds the weapon...

a giant dart like weapon that hovers behind the character. I'm not sure if the weapon that big is allowed...?

Hey Paul,

Really great concept and sketches, that invoker is totally sexy and hot :D Like a lot the idea of the summon statue, very original. The armor is looking great! Perhaps you give a try to a some integration of the armor with the statue and when she attack, deploy the statue.... a silly idea dont listen to me :D Again, great work! and waiting for more updates! Cheers!!

There are also many oriental possibilities (as to be seen also in movies like Star Wars, princess Amidalah or the look of geishas).

Hey Paul. Things are looking great here and it seems like you're moving right along. My onlt crit right now is that the diagnol feathers hanging from her waist past her leg seem kind of stiff and out of place to me, like they are just floating there. I think you should add either some addition strappage holding that piece on from the other hip/leg or have it wrap around her a bit. Right now it just seems a little awkward to me, like they would really be in the way for her. Other than that, things are looking sexy.

Props for doing a female norm! We're in the minority here, lol.

awesome work

I can't say more just that keep going your character looks &$%£ hot!

Just be careful with the term "Demon Hunter," its not a class in the brief and the judges of this contest will be really picky with little details like that. Stick to INVOKER and how the power works.

Don't give them any reason to leave your character out of the top 50.

Yea I was thinking about putting some more makeups on her face. I was exactly thinking about giving her that princess Amidalah look, without the white makeup over her face.

I'm also considering in giving her a body tattoo starting from her upper chest down to her knees. Tattoo designs are soo hard to decide, like I'm getting a tattoo.

Nice concepts! I like the last composition although at the moment it seems like you could lose some of the right-hand side. Depends what's going to be there, I guess, so I'll wait and see. The woman's coming along well and although I'm a big fan of skinny women I think she could use a few more curves. Good work, keep it up.

Hey man, I'm looking at your stuff so far and it's just beautiful work. You seem to really bring out your characters' presence all the time. I probably shouldn't even bother critiquing you since I have nothing to show (i know, i suck), but anyhow, I feel you can win this thing so here's my beef:

Last year's DW winner 2d showed such attitude (the girl) that I really think it grabbed the judges, resulting in a win. I think you showed that attitude in one of your two bigger pinups you've posted here (you posted them one after the other in the same post). I gotta say, and don't kill me since you now know where i live now :) , that this composition (April 16 @ 7:22pm) doesn't grab me as much as that last pinup. I've seen your work and I know you're gonna kill the hell out of it in terms of color, composition, etc., but it's the attitude that I don't quite feel with this one. Add a more dramatic chiaroscuro effect to her posture. I may be way off so don't take it too seriously. Oh and that wolf is BADASSS! And another thing, I don't know if you've tried Painter, but I'm getting these really nice textures that you can try out on your final. I think it brings character to the artpiece when blotches and random other things are there in terms of paint--it makes the art look fast and natural, and makes the artist look confident in their ability to show beauty even with messy areas.

Anywhoo, you're doing a great job---i can't wait for the final piece! KIT

Wow what a sexy woman .. nice work it has allot of appeal with strong form and a wonderful style . little more curve if you where going to push it I think. Weapon? how about a crystal ball that can bring and take life, one that floats in the palm of her hand and inside a galaxy of power, majestic and limitles but not to compete to much with her presence in the design. Just a thought.

StefanoDubay (http://forums.cgsociety.org/member.php?u=342276) : Thanks! I thought it was a design that you don't see everyday so I very much liked the direction of the idea! Unfortunately, her mother statue didn't make it into the final image. There were too many things going on already within the image.

BaronImpossible (http://forums.cgsociety.org/member.php?u=131731) : Thank you!~ I'm adding a bit more stuff on the right side of the image to hopefully balance out the image better. I will add more curvature to her body! hehe.

GaeasHerald (http://forums.cgsociety.org/member.php?u=130247) : Thank you~! I appreciate your kind words~

AlienKing (http://forums.cgsociety.org/member.php?u=371518) : Thanks~! I won't let you down! hehe

mlopezart (http://forums.cgsociety.org/member.php?u=277398) : Yo Mig~! thanks for the compliment and especially the critique! the attitude of the character definitely plays a big part in capturing a lot of people's attentions, including the judges. So that's what I'm basically pursuing here. Though the image is still a concept, I hope the final version is more convincing~! hehe. I'm defiitely gonna touch it up with Painter X even though I'm still foreign to the program. So if you have those kickass brushes, I would love to get my hands on them!

QuantumPixel (http://forums.cgsociety.org/member.php?u=7908) : Thanks~! I'm glad that she's appealing to you~ the final will definitely have more curvature to her body to bring her sexiness up a notch hehe.

Superb work!!...the rendering is awesome!...I'm not too sure on the perspective for the charactercter bottom right of the image and the creature next to the young lady could maybe work with a small perspective as it looks a little to face on...may I suggest that the creature could be running a long side her or along those lines, something that it looks cohesive...atm..it just looks like 3 seperate elements...but the quality of the rendering is awesome!...

Keep up the great work...
