Hey all, this is my first dominance wars competition; I'm excited to be here and competing with such a talented and creative community--here we go!

My concept with either be of a demon abomination or a norm stalker.

The abomination, Skaal-gren, gobbles up people with its long tongue(s) and stores them for days in digestive sacs where they twist and turn, pressing their agonized faces against their organ-like tombs. Still kind of leery on the overall anatomy and style of the creature.

The stalker, Delilah, is a twenty-something girl with a unique magical weapon: a legless, eroding corpse. She was scooped up by norm intelligence agents after her parents were murdered and spent her entire life training in a norm-run facility. That's where she met her lover, Hans, who was ultimately snuffed out by the norm intelligence agency in an effort to preserve Delilah's combat imperatives. She kept her edge, but she also kept a heavy heart, and after much mourning she went through a number of magical rituals to keep Hans' corpse alive. She now carries it around in a body bag; she unzips the bag and uses him as a deadly beacon of shadow magic. Anything from spewing hordes of insects to bringing on a pitch-black night, Hans' corpse is a deadly weapon woven into existence from hatred and loss.

Oh my gosh it's been a rough couple of weeks! I really anticipated some of my classes to slow down but they've done the opposite. I'm trying to remain in good spirits, but I think I might have to resign myself to the 2D competition (uving and texturing a full model seems unrealistic at this point).

Here is the reference sheet for skaal-gren, hopefully the new Delilah reference sheet will be done enough tomorrow to post, but we'll see. The reference sheet might be of little use now, but hopefully I can find the time to finish out the 3D as a personal project. Everyone let me know which character to fully render in 2D, thanks!

Hi and thanks for dropping by my thread! :)
You have a nice background story, I should come up with one for mine too. It will probably help the creative juices flowing!
I like the creature, I don't know if I should feel sorry for it or keep my distance. It's a bit abstract, which is cool!

Keep it up! :buttrock:

Man that is the creepiest weapon I've ever heard of. Props on the backstories, looking forward to more.

Eager to see which one you are going to choose.. both have great potential, personally i liked the stalker Deliah story.. are you going to make it in 2D or 3D ?

Izuael - thanks, it may be too abstract though, hehe, I still have yet to make an actual reference sheet that showcases its anatomy--thinking about a warbling mass of fleshy appendages and boiled, melting nodules (it has 3-4 legs; I'm leaning towards 3). Let me know what you think.

Jushra - thanks for the props; I pride myself on creepiness, hehe

Namnocilis - thanks, I identify more with humans (being one myself :D) and tend to make them a little more intricate. I'm unsure whether I want to do 2D or 3D. I might do both and see which I feel stronger.

Love the creature, and the bag, the woman has a good style but she seems a little bit to "approachable" for someone who carries a zombie demon bag of death :D

good work so far

nice story dude! But I agree that she's a little too approchable. It seems like she bought her outfit at the gap haha. But toherwise I can't wait to see what you do with this! I'd say go 2d if it feels more like a painting kind of thing, and 3d if you really want to bring it to life.
good luck! :buttrock:

I am going to agree with the posts above. She is too approachable. Your options are to make her obnoxiously approachable, and use the corpse-bag as a dichotomy for her story, or you can totally change her into a dark warlockish woman. Either case I would unify the color scheme, as she seems to high-key at the moment.

Cheers

I just thought about a colour tune and overall look like pictures of mythology, ancient stories. What look would you like to see Medusa in?
Somehow desaturated, perhaps stony or golden colours, a bit ancient look.
