Wow there's some pretty awesome stuff going on here, I'm looking forward to seeing some of the final products. :buttrock:

I've decided to go with the machines and a cyborg, 1-I love modelling mechanical stuff and 2-love anatomy and always trying to perfect it(impossible, lol).
So here i give you my Banshee, based on she wails and screams in battle when the machine part of her starts tearing at the living flesh. She is capable of short bursts of flight with the booster wings on her back.

you have impressive concepts here. i think you should make her lower body thinner or longer.
i also liked the designs for her weapon arm.

Great start! i liked all the designs.. though i felt that ones with a opening in Abs / hip area seems a bit more vunerable to attacks.. the booster wings concept is nice too..

I think I'll go with making her lower half longer.

I'm still trying to decide which direction to go with the gun, either long and sleek or short and fat.

Yea, I've decided not to go with the open areas in the torso, even though it show that she's a cyborg the best.

I'm having trouble trying to decide what to do with the chest area atm. :banghead:

Choice man, just make sure you figure out how the flesh will work when it joins with the machine parts. Looking forward to seeing more!

Yea defiantly, I'm thinking so far there will be alot of scar tissue, and maybe burnt looking as if it was seared together.
Main problem is making sure it still looks beautiful, haha.

Loving the combo of armour designs with the circit-board details. Shoulderpads are especially cool :thumbsup:

Here's an update.

So far I'm happy with it, proportions need to be fine tuned.
I haven't worked on the booster wings yet, hopefully have those done tonight.

Sweet ,I really like the weapon design would be nice to make that circle like shape on her arm plate to make it consistent with the weapon design,helmet could be more unique its kinda UT rightnow anyways will follow this progress.

looking good man, hip region looks really good :drool:. might need some more work around the top of the breasts up round the arm joints/ where the join in geometry is. hey its a wip so just something to think about if you havent already... but overall very nice start :thumbsup: man keep it up

You got a reaally nice concept.. Female characters are always good choice to get original ideas.. Their gender is an opportunity to dodge cliches..
Even if she's a cyborg, it's a matter of time that your concept got crazy :thumbsup:

I've had a very unproductive last few days. legs have been fully blocked out now, I'll be working on the arms all day today, so hopefully they will get done.

Hey man,

Ok, for starters...

I think that she is coming along quite well, the body shape is looking quite accurate also.

First thing I see when I look at this is I feel she needs a bit more variation in the silhouette. So you could do this by changing some of the armor plates to break up the curves. Like I think that you can still incorporate female curves into the metal parts of the model, but do it in a way that it draws your eye to it, rather than it just being a flat curve (i.e. the legs). You may be planning on doing this in the detailing phase, but I am just suggesting it now, as I normally do this in the blocking out phase.

I think that the claw/hand could use a bit more work on how it connects to the wrist, this is pretty bad ref, but I can show you later when I get home

I was also thinking you should work on how the shoulder pad connects to the upper arm/shoulder. Right now the angle made between the neck/shoulder and shoulder pad is quite plain if you know what I mean.

But overall looking good, if in the detail stage, you get it closer to what your concept art looks like, I am sure the end result will be very good :)

Go motivate the other guys now ;)

Sweet looking great. Loving the quick paint over. If this is where its going to be heading, you're on to a winner. Not too sure if the shinny black metal suits so much, needs roughing up a bit, great work though keep it up. :buttrock:

Hey man going great. Sorry for not posting earlier, havnet had much time lately ie you can see i havent updated mine lol. I agree with most of what Untamed suggested. The hand definately needs more character as you can see from the front view it looks kinda like a spatula. As for proportions from the posed model they are looking pretty good to me. I like the contrast in the colour with the shiny black metal and the decomposing flesh. It just lets you know how un human machines can be, as it looks as if they dont understand flesh too well :D, keep it up man i look forward to more updates.

I like this a lot. Very different from all the spiky noisy stuff in the competition... The curved machine bits are still very feminine and sleek. Your presentation skills are awesome too. Keep it up!

wow i like the vintage design somewhat of a scifi prometheus from the '70s with a moderm twist, very cool! i would stay away from posing her just yet, the resurface wold be a real pain otherwise the anatomical correction maybe done on the gamemesh too once finished and posed, dunno the way you are planning to make this, just to share my thoughts

Well I'm doing her all in modo, she's all in separate item's and things like the legs and boosters are instances, also all the symmetry is kept from the un-posed pose, so adding more details is quite easy. I just feel it helps me to see how the final thing will look if I work on her posed. But I'll soon find out if it was a bad idea when it comes to baking the low-poly, haha.

Anyhow, onto the update.

Really just going over it piece by piece, so one piece isn't really done, it's just all slowly getting more detail.

Will probably work on a body texture tomorrow, as seeing the plain skin is kinda annoying me :banghead:

skin work in your last update looks great, keep adding details, but i liked your previous update most. with flames and wing-like jet-engines she's going to look awesome, i can imagine. one thing to critique at this stage: g-string doesn't fit the concept (i guess you put it there temporarily). you could make hips mechanical or cover there with parts that belongs to a tail (like planes have, of course not exactly like them :P)

Yea, I can definitely see where your coming from, I had a quick think and was wondering what if her arm was a blade like weapon, made to look like a wing or tail, as it seems most people are getting the aircraft vibe from this.

Thanks, I need to work lots on the flames, plus they get in the way while modelling so I tend to turn them off xD. As for the g-string, at first I didn't want anything there(mainly because there would be no reason for a cyborg that's obviously a robot to hide those thing, and second to save trying to figure out what a cyborg would wear) but I'm worried if I have nothing there It would be a bit too far out there, and the rules do say keep nudity and gore to a decent level.

Any idea's or suggestions are welcome, would love to sort these problems before moving to far forward.

This is looking fantastic, especially when you can see where you are going with the paintovers. Shes hot, stick to the gstring, why wouldnt a cyborg with jets on her back and great breasts not be wearing a G string ?? Any way what i wanted to say is that the right blade hand doesnt really gel with the rest of the design, but great stuff. look forward to seeing more :)

Update

Just been working all over it, slowly adding detail bit by bit. Got a bit more colours sorted, the two stripes on her breast need fixing as the are getting distorted.

The hand is gonna stay, just because I cant think of anything and time is running thin so it will have to do.

looks pretty good so far.. I think the arms are the weakest link. I find it hard to read some how with the weapon arm and where the skinny arm meets the body it would benefit you to work on that area beefing up the transition between machine and flesh. Skin sliding over cables and hoses comes to mind. with some plugs or some mechanical items creating some negative space in the area.

other then that pretty good so far.

Yea, I have a few more pipes to put in, and little more techie bit which should hopefully fix this.

Here's a super quick mapping test. the UV's were just atlas so there are seams like a mofo.
I'm a little worried about the poly limit, especially after the helmet, I'm starting to think so many smooth curved surfaces was a very bad idea :cry:

and yea the lighting and reflection are baked on, it wont be like this on the final.

agreed with some of the other comments about the arm. i feel like the shoulder armor plate obscures the organic/cyborg transition, which creates kind of a disconnect. if you replaced the plate with actual geo, i think it would read much better. hoses, gears, plugs, whatever. just something to illustrate where the arm meets the body.

Update.

I have created the low poly and atm it's sitting around 9170 polys, this should leave me with enough to add more pipes and the smoke and flames from the boosters.

The textures need quite a bit of work, but I will move onto the base first then go back to fix up the texture maps.

Textures came out looking great, the reflective metal is also real nice.

The final image looks a bit too contrasty for my liking, but thats just my personal preference, so all in all, well done, and I hope u make it into the finalists! :thumbsup:
