I was thinking about following some tuts on Radiosity because I want to show some models I made in the best way possible. Wich gave me the idea to ask what your best possible 'show of' setup includes, if you got such a thing in the first place...

Links to radiosity tuts are also very welcome. :)

To show a model off best way possible is not to use radiosity imo
Radiosity in a lot of modelers eyes has become like photoshop lensflares
that make the viewer look stupid
seems impressive but requires no skil and take away focus.

Want to show off your model try three point lighting or something like that. will also render much faster in a turnaround wihtout any risk of sample noise, and light moves dynamically across the object while Arnold stylew renders are flat and even.

If you want a GI setup that is capable of just showing your models details you should make a Sphere, give it a white luminance matarial (100%), that means only luminance and no other channels.

Make the sphere 10 times larger than the object you want to show. Create a floor object.

Use these radiosity settings:

(the higher the stoch samples the less grainy your render will be but the longer the rendertimes)

Whe discussed GI in Cinema in this thread:

http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=75623&perpage=15&pagenumber=2

Might be interesting to read what radiosity modes can do to the appearance of the render. I also like to add that this gives a very clear apearance of the modelling details and is not specificly a showcase method for your object, so this might be interesting for modelling purposes only.

Hope that helped!

Use a sky object instead of a sphere, you'll need lower GI settings to get a good result.
