Hi guys,
I'm new to this site and this is my first DW. I will be posting some sketches by the end of the week about my concept for the contest. I wish everyone the best of luck and criticism is highly recommended. Thanks!

Concept Update: I am in the process of making a norm warlord. He is a human wearing a futuristic armored suit. Hes magical artifact is the "eye" that is his belt buckle. The eye contains the power of the "Phoenix" which in turn used its magic on this human to give him the armor suit + wings + shield + bladed weapon that he has. I'm in the process of developing the weapon and will post soon. I'm going to have a lot of questions and I hope you guys are around to answer them. PLEASE GIVE ME MORE FEEDBACK! THANKS!

Lets try this again. That worked. Let me know what you guys think. I still debating on things like if I want his wings to be on his arm or if I want them on his back. Sketches of his weapon will probably be up sometime this weekend. Try and ignore the above sketches. I will add some new ones this week. My original idea wasn't as interesting as a lot of the other post, so I'm going to revamp it a bit and see what I come out with.

Nice sketches :D Dont worry abouy changing your ideas and concepts, always is good (and fun ) to explorer some differents concepts and ideas. Good luck and waiting for more updates! Cheers! :beer:

Not bad, but is it your sculpting basemesh or do you try to have something clean already ?

Anyway try to clean your mesh: avoid triangles, try to get the shape you want with the minimum polygons.
Avoid also the kind of 'quad that looks like a triangle' like on the shoulder. You have some on the wings too.. For the wings, pick up some references of a bird's closed wing, for now your shape is too shematic and lacks a bit of elegance...
Another point, in front view the curve of the legs is way too exagerated.

To enhance the design, you should put a bird claw only on one hand, or one bigger than the other... You should make two different shoulder pads also.

It might make a lot of crits, but keep it up ! ;)

Thanks for the crits Abrvpt. I've been waiting for someone to come yell at me and tell me whats wrong lol. This is my sculpting base mesh, but I also try to keep it clean as possible. I'm going to go through and clean up those triangles as you suggested and I liked the idea of the eagle claw on one arm, but then I'm not sure what to do with the other. Changing the shoulder pads up sounds like a good idea, I'm going back to the drawing board to see what I come up with. The wings are still a WIP. I have plenty of reference, I just wanted to post so I don't feel like I'm falling behind. Again thank you and I hope your around for my updates.

Update:Please ignore the triangles. I accidentally triangulated and I'm still cleaning them up lol. I haven't had much time to work on this, but I'm hoping this coming weekend I will begin my sculpting. Please let me know what you think. Good idea, try to detail the blade now, it will be hard to do in zbrush.

Thanks. I working on it and have started my mudbox sculpt. I wish I knew Zbrush; think I will give it a try once DW is over, its too late in the game to learn a new tool :)

HELP!! I can not get the high poly version of my characters arms to bake down for the life of me. I have been trying to for 5 days!! I have read every forum I possible could and I still can't get it to work. I don't know if it is mudbox or maya, but whatever it is I'm falling so far behind I don't think I will make it to the end. Please somebody help!!! Thank you :)

I'm posting two renders. One is from Unreal and the other is a Maya Hardware render. My question is that is there a way to render from the Unreal 3 Engine other than just taking a screen shot? This information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

This is a test render. Just playing around with Mental Ray in Maya. I still have some texture work to do, but I will most likely use this pose. Hope you like. Crits are always welcome (haven't been getting alot...nearly none)
