CGTalk - Football (soccer)

Hi all,

Just trying to create a football (soccer) ball.

I've followe maxon's tutorial (http://www.maxoncomputer.com/tutorial_detail.asp?tutorialID=106) and the result is okay, but not quite the same as their picture or a real photo. It's the 'pinched' part of the patches that seems to be the problem.

Here's my attempt,

As you can see, it's not quite up to scratch yet.

Any help you can give is really appreciated.

Hi. I would select all the faces and do an extrude. Perhaps just extrude manually or type in 0.5 or something small. This will define the edges more. If you are having trouble and are getting odd shapes adjust the max angle to a higher number. HTH
