View Full Version : maya shader doesn't keep itself updated

i have this problem in that i have a material, the mental ray MIA_SSS_Fast_Skin material to be more precise, and texture files plugged into quite a few channels.

I go into phtoshop, i modify the files and save them, then go back into maya to render the changes. Lo and behold, nothing changes.

I have to manually go in, select a different file, get it plugged in, then plug in the proper file (or save a new copy for the updated texture) to get it to update.

Apparenlty this could have something to do w/ caching of .iff files.

Anybody know what's going on?

I sometimes get that. I update a texture and re-render and it comes out exactly the same. This is using .bmp but i think your right, it must just cache the textures somewhere. The only workaround i know of is to just restart maya.

Hey!

Right click your shader node inside Hypershader and select Refresh Swatch.Usually it helps.
