Hi,

I am trying maya and I am doing some animation path with the motion path tool and then I deform the object along the spline using the flow path option.
Works perfectly but only with 3d objects, not with a simple plane (nurbs or poly). Is there something I miss ? the lattice created (with a plane) doesn't follow the curve.

thanx a lot

I guess what you do is create a plane (either poly or Nurbs) and attach it to motion path, activate the follow attributes and create a flow path object.

The result you have is not following the curve because your definition of the plane is far too little.

Try to increase subdivision (poly) or spans (Nurbs) for the plane.

You will see it start following the shape of the curve.

Hi misterdi, thanx for your answer.

I did exactly what you said about choosing a simple plane poly or nurbs, it follows (translate) the curve nicely but it doesn't deform (lattice) when I add the flow path. Subdivision doesn't change the problem.

I'll check again, but I only have sometimes tomorow, need to finish my animation today.

I have no problems here.

here is the file (http://pasto.tv/badflow.mb)

The last thing I have done in this file is animate/flow path.

thanx a lot Misterdi.
I have got experience on C4D and I am learning Maya, feel like I am starting from scratch again...

Pasto, sorry I just got time to take a look on your files,

The problem is actually easy to solve.

Your mistake is setting the front and up axis both to Y direction.
You give Maya headache to solve the situation, am I going front or up, the master said both are same axis.

To fix, change your front Axis to Z. Increase your lattice resolution to value like 72 or so in U division.

That solve the problem.

But in case you want to loop it then you will go into other problem, since the latice space is actually stop and the start/end point of the curve. But that is another problem
