View Full Version : batch render glitch
wedge 05-06-2002, 08:05 AM i'm trying to render out an animation test, and this is how my render globals are set:
name.ext.#
frame 1 to 72
by frame 1
padding 2
format AVI
render ALL
camera PERSP
rgb and alpha checked, depth not checked
resolution is 640x272
antialiasing set to intermediate
motion blur set to 3D
MY PROBLEM:
When I click BATCH RENDER, it immediately says "Result: Rendering Completed", but NOTHING has actually been done!
Running Windows XP Professional, Maya 4.0

try to run render diagnostics. sometimes it will help you.
yesterday i had the same problem like you. i switched something off, but don't flogg me, i really can't remember what it was.
your globals seem to be ok for now. try your lights, delete one temporarly or something like that. we all know that the renderer is a big problem :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

you can try several things:
- try not rendering to avi, but to single frames (which i would recommend anyway)
- have a look in the render.log file
- try batch rendering from outside maya from the command line (maya might tell you, what happened more precisely)
- do you try to render somwhere where you have no writing permissions?
- do you have at least one camera that is marked as renderable in the attribute editor?
cheers

sven: what i mean is, you seem to reply to people's messages right away, even if it is very late at night... then again, I'm in the USA, so it might be the middle of the day for you. it just seemed as though you never sleep, and you are always on call to help us out.

yes you're right. at the moment i don't find some time to sleep. i'm a german student and working right now on my diploma day and night to get finished. and i have a permanent internet connection. so i can keep track of all here. and from time to time i have a little idea to help.
btw : my diploma will be videotuts about maya stuff. i know there are the gnomon and alias videos. but i haven't seen one of gnomon, only 2 from alias. so my professor asked me if i can make some for maya character animation/setup etc.
but probably i will not sell them :hmm:

I just found this thread and its a little old, but what i noticed ALWAYS works when that happens is make a new scene...and just import the whole jelopy of your old scene into the new one. I've had the problem and it gets fixed everytime I do that...renders come out fine.

Think this is treated in the Maya FAQ thread? Are there spaces in your scene filename? That will balls things up.

a good workaround for me to check render errors is following:
set your work-project, then save your scene
open the dos-shell
type (in any directory) : "render mySceneName"
Now you should see your error message.

I've had this before...
all you have to do is
go to your camera's
att editor and make sure the
camera is set to renderable.
That simple.
