Title: The Hound
Name: Web Bryant
Country: USA
Software: Photoshop
Based on the works of G.R.R. Martin, this illustration is one of many done using his work to build a fantasy portfolio. Important to me is a look that has a constancy across all subject matter. If I could write, it would be like Martin."Hand" drawn inside Photoshop, this part of the story is about two damaged people. Please critique the image as much as the technique. If this reminds you of the work of N.C. Wyeth then I'm headed in the right direction.

The Hound is such a tormented, sorrowful character and Martin "paints" him so vividly with words. I really like your style, and think it's a wonderful portrayal of Sandor, but I'm not sure if I like Arya (or is that Sansa) in this one...? It seems she should be slightly more feminine, enough to make the femininity clear, but Arya was always muddy, dirty, and unkempt so it still works this way just fine.
I look forward to seeing your other Song paintings!

I like the style of this. It resembles the tones of Martin's reality as everything isn't crisp and clean. It says to me you cannot tell with certainty whether Sandor is "good" or "bad", maybe neither, maybe both, who knows. I like that aspect of it. If I had to critique, I would say Sandor's deformations should be more apparent. InfernalDarkness, this must be Arya, the hair is dark like Ned's, not auburn as Sansa's would be. Her eyes are also closed and there's an axe on Sandor's back, which makes me say this is from SoS and that they are around the area of the Twins. Great work, would love to see more of your paintings from the series.

Thanks all for the feedback. Oberyn Martell is right. That is Arya, just after the red wedding. She had been hit in the side of the head, so her face was disfigured as well as Sandor's. Another one of G.R.R. Martin's little insights. Currently all artwork in my portfolio is based Martins work. That will be changing later todays, as I'll drop in other set with another forum work to get some feed back.
Again thanks
