View Full Version : How do I Save out a Max file with only a specific animation segment?

Hello, can anyone help me?

I've got a file with a bunch of animation in it, but what is needed is to save out segments of the animation into seperate .max files.

Does anyone know an easy way to do this?
Perhaps a little maxscript to do it, or it's already possible in 3ds max?

The only way I've found so far is to select all the objects, then delete the keys I don't want, then set the slider to frame 0, then tell it to align keys to slider, so they are placed at 0 on the timeline. Then I save the max file.

Then repeat for the other sections etc.

The problem is that I want to be able to keep all the animation in one file for ease of editing, then export the segments when needed.

Anyone know any better ways?
Cheers for your help.

Hey,
did you try
File>save animation

if you select the animated parts then you have an option to save only a section on the top hand right.

Hello.

Yeah, I did look into that.
It seems like the best solution so far, apart form a Maxscript.

I'm not sure if it allows saving and importing of animations on multiple objects.

Something to test out I suppose. :)
