Cantain Kickass is a character i'm developing for a few animated shorts i'm working on.
What do you guys think, give me some feedback
PS: the hair is my first try witha hair plugin (sas)so i'm still trying to figure out hot to make it work right.
time: about 6 hours

I'm working on a body. It was important for me to get the right face before moving on to the body. I'll be posting the body soon.
I'm looking to get more indepth critiques on the design and the look. So please give me some feedback.

the lips really bug me..
the corners of the lips shouldnt be sticking out like you have them.. they should be receding back inside his mouth hole.. think of it like the opening to a whole in his head rather than a structure on the surface of his facealso as for the topology (mesh) there should be loops going around his mouth..
I like the wolverinish design though:thumbsup: thats why i had to say somethin about the lips

I realize that he is a cartoonish looking character, which is cool, but going back to some basics of human form, this guy has no forehead. The eyes should be in the middle of the entire head. If you were going for a neaderthal thing I am not getting it. I think it would help you to pick up a couple of old National Geographics and study up on skull design.
I personally don't like the hugely unporportional jaw, but since this is a cartoonish caracter that it just a personal preference.
The back of the head into the neck looks great, as do the teeth, nose and ears.

PaxtonGerrish:I tottaly agree about the lips problem, and it was just not thinking ahead on my part. I'm fixing it now.
jrwells: I have found in the past that if you want a the charecter to look cartoonish you can follow human proportion rulles. But i will see what he looks like with a bigger forehead.

apart from the eyes i like your character.
but i really don't like the eyes. they look too flat and lifeless.
there is a tutorial out there called "it's all int the eyes" by adam baroody. that should get you some good eyes. sorry i can't give you a direct link. try looking at the www.threedy.com forum. there is a sticky post in there with all the tutorials in it. i think that is where i saw it.

I did some more work on the eyes and changed the face geometry a bit. I need some feedback, because I've been looking at this face for so long that i don't know if i'm making it better or worse.
i also changed the Mad morph from the original, to be a bit less cartoony

the jaw line should be higher it connects right in front and below of the ear. maybe adding some edges above the eyes to give a shelf for the brows might help to form the forehead better. the ear lobes look a little odd the highlight on the bridge of the nose suggests a very blocky nose bridge shape which is rather un natural. hope this helps :buttrock:

A little semi update. I took some time to work on the aliens that Captain Kickass is going to be kicking in the ass.

I see that alot of poeple are look at this thread, but almost no one gives me any C&C. :annoyed:
Non the less I plan to keep this thread alive (as long as no admin delets it) untill I finish my animation, with updates often. My main goal is to submit it for next year's SIGGRAPH. I'm going this year to see how high the bar is set.
I hope that I get alot of feedback and help from this forum, I' amazed daily by the work i see here.
