very very good.
07-07-2003, 12:31 AM
it looks amazing also do i detect a hint of aura in her waist? :)
07-07-2003, 02:43 AM
Wow this is awesome!
07-07-2003, 02:45 AM
I really like the way you connect the "Konvoi" scene with the current one. The preparations of a major scale warfare.
The atmosphere feels like the war of machines vs humans in 2nd Renaissance meets warhammer.
out of this world!! :applause:
07-07-2003, 02:50 AM
That's amazingly well made!
I'd love to see the woman in more detail, or in a different pose / scene.
btw, is that defensive-girder thing in the bottom right supposed to be like your logo?
07-07-2003, 02:55 AM
dopeness. As always i give huge points to somebody just for showing they aren't afraid of being imaginative. The only crit would be that the lead character's design feels cluttered on the woman to the extent that I can't make out her lower body even with the separation the glow gives her. a huge plus is her hairstyle which kicks all ass and the swirling magic around her.
07-07-2003, 03:15 AM
lotta lights n hard to see models, but omg you know theres something behind it all :O!
07-07-2003, 03:20 AM
Holy Jamolly!! That is a well thought out and executed piece of work, it must of taken a little planning to put it together... Nice 3D, nice post work...it all looks great!!!!
07-07-2003, 03:34 AM
WOW! it's great! It's got a Warhammer 40000 feel to it.
I'd love to see a wire.
EDIT: It'd also be nice to see images of the characters by themselves.
07-07-2003, 03:37 AM
This is so cool, im curious!!! WIRES WIRES!!:wip:
I just want to know what is photoshop and what is 3d. Specially how u faked this huge crowd!!
The work is perfect! Congratz! France and their exceptional
artists strikes back.
07-07-2003, 03:41 AM
very nice .....
really hope can see only separate character picss...
07-07-2003, 03:48 AM
I love those mechanical styles and those flying ships are awsome
07-07-2003, 04:58 AM
Wow very cool...
I think the character had not rendered with the background!
07-07-2003, 05:01 AM
Very well done.
My vocabulary escapes me as I am lost for the words to describe such inspiring work. :applause:
07-07-2003, 05:29 AM
it'll be great if you show some wireframes and more isolated shots of your character...
nice work though.
07-07-2003, 07:30 AM
this is cool ..like the concept!
07-07-2003, 07:51 AM
Very nice as always dear colleague ...
07-07-2003, 08:09 AM
couple things... the fingers of the hero character seemed a little bit short to me. I also think the character pops out too much from the scene. It might be the color tone, as well as the glow effects around the hero character.
otherwise, great details. and very nice costum design
07-07-2003, 09:32 AM
I like this shot, but there is something strange in the picture... maybe the layers compositing? perhaps the atmospheric effect (fog)?
How many polygons has your scene?
07-07-2003, 09:34 AM
I very like it
bess you succesful ~~
07-07-2003, 10:14 AM
I love the idea of the flying WWII style ships
07-07-2003, 10:18 AM
Love the angelic flavor of the crusader like a futuristic Joan of Arc. The glowing script is way cool. Love the early century painting feel of the armies composition, especially beyond the focal point of the leader's finger into the distance. How did you do that background
07-07-2003, 11:00 AM
Yeah, absolutely amazing. Great composition, colours (or lack thereof) and there's thrust in there.
I agree though, that the Jean d'Arc-like character in the foreground looks a bit as if she is in an image of her own. Idon't mind the fact that she's brighter and more saturated than the background, but I think the glow on her weapons and hands just makes it look too composited. You've used the barricades in the very foreground well to pin her in space, but maybe you could do more, perhaps a strand of smoke rising up from the ground in front of her or something.
Great work though.
07-07-2003, 11:09 AM
07-07-2003, 11:50 AM
Zeruel the 14th
07-07-2003, 12:18 PM
Very nice pic. Has a strong Warhammer 40k look and feel to it. (if you ever seen some of the art for that. Thats what i think of when i look at the pic. I can also see what appear to be 'religous icons' which is nice. (40k heros are not unknown for carrying items into battle. From Ancient Scepters and swords with runes, to very old bullet ridden holy books etc)
This is good stuff. Quite impressive.
really impressive work xavier!!!
WOW.. what a cool work!:applause:
07-07-2003, 03:01 PM
07-07-2003, 03:37 PM
Amazing and great work! I´ll put this as a wallpaper...
07-07-2003, 05:04 PM
gonna have to go with cool shot, I like the scope and grandeur in the background, but the main character is way to cluttered. There's no defining pose...I can't tell exactly what she's doing, which way her legs are positioned, there's some bad foreshortening of her right arm and her left arm looks a bit too short.
great job though on the rest!
07-07-2003, 05:36 PM
I dont feel like complaining on such a great image, its really not much of a cg crit more of a spelling crit. It says "Honnor" on the left shoulder of the "leader" or whatever it is.. You should correct it to either "Honor" or "Honour" depending if you want the american or british spelling...
Really love the mood and concept of the pic, ofcourse the modeling is great to!
Keep it up!!
07-07-2003, 08:32 PM
it definitely says 'HONOR'. ... ... and it's a great piece. The big mystery to me is which portions are 3d and which aren't. If it was all done in Max then I'm really interested in learning what techniques were used to produce this sort of quality. I can detect some cloning here and there, but everything still comes together so well.
07-07-2003, 08:55 PM
good highly great, good.
in the day that I make this I will go kill..
07-07-2003, 09:42 PM
woooOoo wow man, that's definatly a look all your own...i've had this image as a background for the past 2 days (long time for me) and the more i look at it the more i love everything about it...hats off to ya for a great peice...the only thing i would tweek a lil is the sky backdrop it looks a little muddled
07-07-2003, 10:06 PM
her face is great. that is great.
07-07-2003, 10:23 PM
Hi I think your fellow CGTalk members would be very thankfull to u if u post the wireframes here.
Oh atleast the main character model... if its done in 3dsmax...

07-08-2003, 04:22 PM
the gap between character and background need to take care!
mybe put some smoke effect will do! good try....!!:hmm:
07-10-2003, 01:56 AM
Love the color palette, would've liked to see her screaming out orders tho ;). Her hand looks a lil odd to me, the fingers all see wrong in size in relation to the others, but generally this is a very inviting piece.

destroy them bastards with utter ferocity!!! :scream:
07-11-2003, 01:43 AM
but I'm gonna say it anyway. My friend and I both agree that it would be a kickass picture, if you took the chick out.
Sorry. Just being honest.
07-11-2003, 04:11 AM
07-11-2003, 08:25 AM
TOTALY MAD ABOUT W40K !!!! John Blanche is a god for me.
I have make some transfoms while taking your advices
07-11-2003, 08:47 AM
i think the picture looks better now that you have removed the white glow from around the main character.
but i think she still sticks out from the background a little too much.
why have you gone back to the "Honnor" instead of "honor"?
the only other thing i don't like is that you can't see what the other people in the picture look like.
what i mean is that the only one of the "Marines" that is near to the camera, is covered by the main character.
so you can't really tell what they are or what they look like.
other than that think the image is amazing and it has been my desktop background for a week now.
which parts are 3d/2d? anychance of some wires?
07-11-2003, 10:08 AM
07-11-2003, 12:37 PM
Thx ROB ;) i have choice HONOR
07-11-2003, 12:57 PM
there's just no need for things that good, you just making me fell sick
And its even getting worse......... i´m mad of your works, it looks even better now !
well, ich first thought about your relaton to wh 40k when i saw your name, xavier is priest of the salamanders and that female flying-ship-captain had a cap whic reminded me of the one imperial commisars wear, and now this image, sorotita commander leading her space marines into the battle......... ever thought of a job at gamesworkshop crating images or sth ?
07-11-2003, 01:12 PM
I love it!
07-11-2003, 05:26 PM
NIce. Only thing is the girl looks a little out of place. Thats it! Very good!
07-12-2003, 09:40 AM
07-12-2003, 03:27 PM
Bon Week end!..
07-12-2003, 03:59 PM
Totally reminds me of the girl and the Magitek armor in FF6 (FF3). Looks like a scene of what would have happened if Ghestaul would have kept her.
07-12-2003, 07:07 PM
Looks really nice Xavier. The only thing I would comment on is the chain running from the ship to the ground. It's the same size all the way thru. The link closest to the ship is the same size as the link closest to the ground. Other than that, looks great!
07-12-2003, 07:17 PM
:banghead: Great Job :applause:
another beautiful work by Xavier Marquis...
when i look at the picture i feel like the battle's right next to me... likin' that pic very much, however, the girl looks kind of like a ghost with the glowing and the writing around her...... but that make her look cool... so good job
07-13-2003, 10:50 AM
Want to see more!
My website (http://www.waikitchung.tk)
07-13-2003, 10:54 AM
Wish you like it Man tell me you are joking. We love it
What is the time that this work took you ??
Pls some wires pls
07-14-2003, 03:20 PM
dunno if you noticed this but the guy behind the main woman still has "Honnor" not "Honor" just thought you might be interested.
07-15-2003, 10:37 AM
07-15-2003, 12:18 PM
I can only sum this up in one word that's been repeated before !!WOW!!.....except......i would've loved to see those (three or four legged) mechs in the background a bit closer than all fogged up and tiny.
07-21-2003, 03:28 AM
Ev'rything is good... persp/props are exxelentt
...but...the Goddes face looks like a doll from the shop round the corner... IMHO the techno/spell mix DEMANDS the killin' beauty :)
07-21-2003, 03:46 AM
I like the picture... I used to be into 40k myself.
The composition is nice, but as soon as I saw the pic it immediately reminded me of "March of the Pharon" by Mark Wilson. Not saying you copied it or anything, just posting the pic so you can see the similar composition.
07-30-2003, 04:38 PM
Great image, I only wish she lady stood a little clearer against the bg.
But aside fromthat minor complaint i think it is great artwork
04-10-2004, 04:45 PM
A perfect 10! Normady 3000, hehe. ;-)
11-29-2004, 07:28 PM
