Title: The Oath
Name: Yigit Koroglu
Country: Turkey
Software: Photoshop

This is my entry for CGHub's challenge:natives of the lifeless forest.
PS CS3 , wacom intuos 3.
The story is about a little kid who finds himself in the middle of a forest which was inhabited by machines.Humankind has forgotten the beauty of nature long ago and abandoned the forests to their fate. The sensitive machines claimed the forest and started to rebuild it as best as they could.Their oath was to destroy any human who approaches inside their forest. But this small one was different than the others. So what will happen now?

cool. a very powerful and dynamic piece here. great perspective and composition of the subjects. the little boy looks just right (not too rendered, not too vague). the giant robot is very well done, it's design is well constructed, and the details and textures are there. the lighting (especially the focal light source) is very strong and well played. the thin red lasers are a nice touch actually. they help break up the monotany of the strong spot lights. Very well composed and balanced. An excellent job here.

Damn that that one was cool. Cool Idea and nicely done.

I really like your background textureing in the forest. A smart way to create the illusion of many limbs and trees whit relativly few actual trees.

The characters is incredible. Love the contrast of the litle child and the Big robot. Cool that you in you story talk about the gentle and senstive robots - Usally the are the oppsite.

The lightning, and the dagonal lines they create, creates a nice "motion" and depth that make the coposision, in my opinion, more interesting. The "back light" make the dramatical effect more "hiting". Love the "fish eye" and "frog" angle - it make's it even more dramatical.

Keep up the good work! You are a source of inspiration. :)

Excellent work. I agree with all the comments made previously and would add that the reflection of the boy in the lens of the robot is a really nice touch. I did not even notice it for about 5 minutes. I like how the image has an illustrative style, but still has a depth given to it by the many details that you do not notice at first glance(bird, another robot, boys reflection). I wish I could draw that well :). I will have to stick to 3d to get the job done. Keep up the good work.

Thank you architect. I graduated school of interior design, so im kinda obsessed with details, which are not so visible at first glance but gives a distinguishing touch to the whole picture. But again , to those only who spare their few moments to examine the image.I do the same to the bars/clubs even to hospitals.People feel a warmth (lol or i hope they do hehehe) when they enter the place but dont realize the reason behind it at first.Well at least thats my "intention" when designing.Illustration was a lot fun for me so i stopped designing places and sold my soul to the fantasy/sci-fi world.
I was a failure at 3d ,went to courses, bought books etc. but concluded that it would take thrice the time do something in 3dmax compared to drawing by hand so i left that 3d stuff to those who are masters of it.
