Hi,

I don't know Shockwave and I want know if it makes possible to have good online 3d applications? Maya gives an exporter.

I want make a kind of simple application on a page with a simple poly model. On clicking on it change the model color (in an array/bench of 8 colors). Is it possible? Does shockwave support simple shading type?

And does shockwave plugin works on most computers? Does the mesh is protect from robbing? What are the possibilities with flash and shockwave?

1001 thanks to reply to my noobs questions

Yeah you can do what you want w/ shockwave however you'll have to write it all in lingo. Shockwave is decent for simple 3d scenes but only if you know lingo pretty well. Your 3d models are protected because you're exporting to w3d and importing that to director. I don't think you can import the w3d file into anything other than director, tho i may be wrong. Check out www.directordev.com for some shockwave examples. The best site i've seen for learning shockwave is a link on that site to den ivanov's shockwave3d site. He has a lot of great shockwave tests. Rule of thumb, make sure your runtime memory usage is very low. If that exceeds a persons video ram your project will automatically display software rendered rather than openGL or direct3d rendered. However it shouldn't be a problem for what you're talking about doing.
