View Full Version : ink and paint question
SquirrelyJones 07-06-2003, 08:38 PM is there a way to use the ink outline from the ink and paint material on a standard material. or is there a way to get a smoother transition between different colors with the ink and paint shader without smoothing the whole transition. you know?

Well i don't know about the ink n'paint shader, though ink can use maps so maybe you can try and control ink's width and appearence by using maps; else you can mimic toon shaders using falloff maps (see neil blevins's tutorial (http://www.neilblevins.com/cg_education/toon_shader_falloff/toon_shader_falloff.htm) ).

If you are making a still you can render twice(1toon, 1 normal render) and do some post work in Photoshop to blend the 2.:)

I guess not, I'll just use the final render ink modifier and regular falloff maps for the toon stuff.
mouj, thanks for that link, I would never have though of using a falloff map for the specularity.
can't wait for final render stage 1 to come out.
