I know when you edit an object as editpoly it doesn't give you an accurate count (object properties), but is there an easy way (or a script) that i can use to easily keep track of triangles and still be able to use the tools in edit poly that i prefer?

maybe you can put a "turn to poly" modifier on top of it, turn limit polygon size on to three. Your polygon counter now counts all triangles, maybe it works for you.

It's a script that writes the number of triangles in an object to the statusbar. It's a macro, so you can bind it to a keyboard shortcut; just place the file in your 3dsmax\UI\Macroscripts directory and you'll find it in the "Max Script Tools" category in Customize User Interface.
