Hi, i am trying to create a sort of freerunning/parkour clip and have my character going off one roof onto another that is a good distance away and also lower, when the character lands it is going to land into a roll/somersault.

I have got the character through the running jumping etc, but now the roll landing is puzzling me.

Does any one have some tips on this motion, or tutorials?

(i'm doing this is blender, but keyframes don't really change from one software to the next i hope =P) Also, i'm using the biped rig from the "Character Animation" blender disc.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

p.s. a lot of the reference material for the animation is from the district 13 clip on youtube.

I've animated a bit of flipping and rolling, and what I've found is using the world control to get the primary arc and the roll. This way, you get your body into a tucked poistion (with his center pivot at the same position as the world control), and rotate the world control. This will make life easier for controlling the different options of the roll.

Also, using the world ctrl to get the arc of the primary jump allows your change it easily.

A similiar technique was used on this animation:

Good luck.

Hoi:
Glad you like the anim man, I modeling the hole and broken pieces separately and key framed the visibility and movements of them. So lots of booleans and visibility switches. I havnet done rigid bodies in so long. I tried when i was in school and for a few projects at my first game job, but now i just hand key it. Easier to control and edit, and doesnt need baking or simming.

Grarr: Glad you got the motion going, interested to see what you do.
