Title: is it a batman?
Name: Alessandro Ardolino
Country: Italy
Software: Photoshop, ZBrush

This is my first attempt to create a concept illustration: a mix of a man and bat, not like the classic vampyre portrayal, nor the super heroe's one.

For this image I've started with some bat photos as reference (found on the web and books), next I've created the head from a polySphere using ZBrush3; after reached the final shape of the head, I've started the paint work to produce the final illustration.

For the skin I've used 3 Photoshop custom brushes, one for the freckles and 2 for the skin pores and wrinckles.

These are the steps from the sculpting in ZBrush 3 to the painting in Photoshop, thanks for viewing :)

Nice work and cool concept!
I really love the way you sculpted the muscles in his face and the way he half-closes his eyes consequently. It helps giving him a great and dynamic expression.
Painting is great too: good choice of colors (never too saturated, but not too dull either).
Saliva and Hair are greatly realized. I like the way you painted a layer of hard hair and a sub-layer of "softer" hair. Hair's distribution along the ear's edges was a good idea.

Keep up the good work! Looking forward to see more from you!
